Trump Has Plummeted to Jimmy Carter Level Approvals

Alabama. I remember the gas stations were running out of gas. So they limited how much you could get.

We parked on the side of the road for about a half mile waiting our turn.
I was in Great lakes Illinois from January to May 1979, and then in Florida until August and then Alabama after that. Never once encountered rationing and my source said there was any rationing in Alabama whatsoever.

Well your source is Wrong. I remember that line. I was still in high school. I got sent to do it. Waited til I got to the pump and it was like 10 gallons only.

Dad was pissed I only got that much lol

So it's a math problem. . . Kind of like the drinking water experiment.

I'll give you a glass of water and beside it a bowl of dirt. I'll start adding dirt, and you tell me at what point you no longer would risk drinking the water.

Middle East Peace is the glass of water.

The Beirut bombing, the Oct 7th attack on Israel, the killing of tens of thousands of their own protesters. . . That's the dirt.

We can all decide for ourselves what the tipping point is.

For me, I was ready in 1983 - WHILE I was actice duty in the Marine Corps.

Why did you lie? why?

That may have been that single gas station. There was no government rationing. I was there too.

Another matter up in the air now is global warming. Remember global warming? Didn’t AOC predict the end of the earth?

What are the objective results to all the taxpayer dollars spent on the Green New Boondoggle? What has been the effect of the taxpayer dollars extorted as it applies to global temperatures?

Ine result was Democrats like Al Gore becoming billionaires via an extortion racket wherein big businesses could keep on polluting as long as they bought 'carbon credits' from Al Gore and friends. Democrats rely a lot on extortion rackets; the Bidens certainly did.

And who’s orchestrating this symphony of self-interest?

Step forward, Al Gore and his coterie of green evangelists. Gore, the High Priest of climate alarmism, has been a vocal champion of carbon credits since his ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ days. But Shiva pulls back the curtain: Gore co-founded Generation Investment Management, a firm that invests heavily in carbon markets. His advocacy isn’t just idealism; it’s a business plan. When he thunders about climate catastrophe, he’s not just saving the planet, he’s boosting his portfolio. Other players, like the World Bank and the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism, lend institutional heft, certifying projects and setting rules that ensure the system remains opaque enough to deter scrutiny but credible enough to keep the cash flowing.

Why isn’t this front-page news? Because the media, like science, is too often a hired gun. Shiva points out that major outlets, CNN, BBC, The Guardian, are funded by the same Corporate and institutional interests that profit from carbon credits. Advertising revenue, grants, and sponsorships tie them to the banks and NGOs that underpin the system. Science, too, bends to the weight of money. Research into climate solutions is often funded by grants from Governments or Foundations with stakes in the carbon market. A scientist questioning the efficacy of offsets risks their funding; a journalist digging too deep risks their access. It’s not a conspiracy, it’s just how the world works. Nothing is sold as seen.

The irony is that we’re told carbon credits are for our benefit, to save the planet for future generations. Yet the planet’s saviours are the same billionaires, bankers, and bureaucrats who’ve never met a profit they didn’t like. The system doesn’t reduce emissions; it redistributes them, allowing polluters to keep polluting while buying indulgences. Global emissions haven’t dropped significantly since carbon trading began, Shiva cites a 2022 study showing a mere 2% reduction in emissions from capped industries over a decade. Meanwhile, the market’s growth outpaces the glaciers’ retreat.

Shouldn't be any mystery to who is financing and promoting shills like lil Greta Thunberg's 'world tours' and making her a 'big name'.

All this does is illustrate how widespread stupidity is in America.
People like the OP who think personality is more important than policy. Like not voting for the Orange boy in the fifth grade student council election because you don’t like his personality. People who believe an alternative that is exponentially worse for everyone —including themselves — is somehow better.

31% marks a new low for Trump. All the gerrymandering in the world is not going to help the Republicans recover from this in the midterm elections.

When it comes to Trump's handling of the economy, 29% of Americans approve and 67% disapprove. In April, 31% of Americans approved of the way Trump was handling the economy and 65% disapproved.

In May 2018, 38% approved of the way Trump was handling the economy and 57% disapproved.

Among Americans registered to vote, 31% approve of the way Trump is handling his job as president and 65% disapprove. On Trump's handling of the economy, 30% of registered voters approve and 66% disapprove.

Why are the Lefties so thrilled that they perceive Trump being unpopular at the moment?

I don't really give a shit, and I voted for him three times...would have done it more if I thought I could get away with it.

I don't think The Donald gives a shit either, except as it might negatively impact a few people running for Congress this fall.

As a narcissist myself, I couldn't care less about my popularity.

15th post
Nah. Was panic buying. 74 I wasnt driving yet.

We also had Hurricane Frederick that year. No power 2 weeks. Water a week. Main line ruptured at Municiple park.
That is why you had a gas shortage. In August of that year, I drove from Jacksonville, FL to Auburn where I started my freshman year at college, but the Navy sent me to KY, back to my hometown to recruit. I reported to Auburn again in September only a few days after the hurricane hit Mobile. There was no impact in that area of the state.

You just forgot the reasons. The other gas rationing was in just a few states during the summer of that year, not later.
