Trump expected to announce 'framework' to cut health costs

Out of pocket not premiums

I pay for premiums out of pocket as part of my employer compensation.

If you mean how much did I strock a check for? $0.

Insurance that I pay for was primary and after 20 years in the Military TRICARE picked up the remainder.

His announcement has been delayed to the future.

President Donald Trump has proposed capping eligibility for Obamacare subsidies at 700% above the federal poverty line as part of a new policy framework to address health care costs. This proposal would limit subsidies to individuals and families earning up to that level, potentially excluding higher-income enrollees who previously qualified for assistance.

Insights indicate this eligibility restriction is one element of a broader initiative to extend expiring Affordable Care Act subsidies for two years, aimed at averting significant premium increases for millions of Americans. The plan is designed to require congressional approval and features additional changes such as appropriating new funds to reduce out-of-pocket costs and allowing enrollees who switch to lower-priced plans to use their tax credits in savings accounts. According to health policy experts, these adjustments reflect ongoing debates within both parties over how best to maintain affordable health coverage ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

His republican congress pushing back reason for the delay. They're not buying it.

Well, if I put a dollar in a "Alex Jones Was Right" jar I'd have a tidy sum by now. ;)

Same deal though, hyperbole coating a nugget of truth.

Couldn't be more wrong. Shocking coming from upper tier posters or even you never-Trump supporters.

They (GP) doesn't make up stories. Are you crazy? GP reposts what is already out there with some commentary. Yeah, maybe a mistake here there letting Election crazies post some u-verufied facts, but not often. As I said Twatter is usually first with direct line to DC. GP links to Twatter. Must be all false everywhere because you?

Being "first" or fast never enters the picture until know it all elite never-Trumpers make a post in here acting as if the red sea shall part to make way for what you've "discovered".

By the time Tom & Jerry get around to any topic on this slow site, I've already forgotten more about any topic you genius dredge up Laura Ingrham or Fox radio or a NYT WSJ paper copy where you watch the DOW the news is old.

Pathetically disturbing to witness somr attack what they don't know about. Better to remain Silent if you.......

Just because Wikipedia or Snopes says it is so.....you don't have to be suckered into it.

Really out//

What the blue **** are you going on about? GP is a poor source....End of story.

Pretty silly to tout giving $30B to people to give to insurance companies vs $30B to insurance companies on people's behalf. The market place ACA negotiates lower overall prices due to insuring people with pre-existing conditions who will see the largest increases.

Trump is trying to save face now that he caused the premiums to spike... just like the Democrats said.

You do get those are only 4-5% growth rates per year right? Which is about what we were seeing previously.

Using YOUR numbers which I didnt check:

YearAvg Single Premium% Change
2008$4,386—
2018$6,896+57% (10 yrs)
2025$9,325+35% (7 yrs)

That’s roughly 4–5 % annual growth — almost identical to overall medical inflation over the same period.

ACA reforms and later Medicare payment constraints effectively held down Medicare reimbursement growth, while Medicaid expanded to cover lower-income groups.

Hospitals and drug companies recouped margins from the employer and individual markets — the only sectors where they can negotiate higher prices.

Is that your way of admitting your original post was TDS rambling Bullshit?

So trump didn't cause prices to spike, gotcha.

now let's move on, the question now, is, how's he going to fix the Democrat heatlhcare crisis coming at the end of the year?

That doesnt follow. I framed up your increases to 4-5% and then explained how the businesses raised prices on you to capture margin, not because costs increased. And this is your response?

Those are prices before this year. New premiums are going up and his "Fix" is to make them go down by doing the same thing in reverse. He wants to subsize people getting ACA policies, just like the one he ended. What a joke. His caucus is pushing back since they dont want prices to go down. They want poor people dead.

what are you claiming he ended?

There are subs set to expire by the Dems on Dec 31 of this year. Trump would rather that money go directly to taxpayers, instead of going to big insurance companies the way the dems have it set up.

Trump hasn't canceled the temporany Covid subs that are set to expire.

That's a lie. These subs were created by Xiden and the dems in 2021 and extended again by them. Understanding the ACA Subsidy Discussion | Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget

Between 2014 and 2020 – and starting again in 2026 under current law – subsidies are paid on a sliding-scale basis to those with incomes between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level (FPL), which is a function of income and household size. Most of those with income below 100% of FPL are eligible for Medicaid in most states. Under current law, the 2026 subsidies will limit the premium enrollees pay for a benchmark plan to 2% of household income for those making 100% of FPL, rising to 6.60% of income by 200% of FPL and 9.96% of income for those between 300% and 400% of FPL.

The American Rescue Plan Act and Inflation Reduction Act increased the ACA subsidies temporarily from 2021 through 2025. These enhanced subsidies cover the full cost of a benchmark premium for those between 100% and 150% of FPL. Beyond that, the subsidies limit the premiums enrollees pay for a benchmark plan to 2% of income by 200% of FPL, 6% of income by 300% of FPL, and 8.5% of income for all beneficiaries at 400% of FPL or more. The enhanced subsidies are theoretically available to even very high-income enrollees, with no income cutoff; however, few very high earners likely face premiums above the 8.5% of income threshold. These enhanced subsidies are set to expire at the end of 2025.

Trump has cut nothing, you dembot.

We'll see if it gets the Republican support that Trump's replacement of Obamacare couldn't muster back in 2017.
What Replacement deal from 2017? There was no plan,

Dude. I predicted every line you typed - every line. Trump is already telling people that food prices are down and he has a solve for the healthcare costs he raised. His numbers are plummeting as everyone knows he is lying and he caused them. Good luck man. Republicans are getting out now cuz they read the midterm signs.

I was speaking about our billing in the healthcare system I work for.
Side question, if you please. Right now, what are the options for a single adult who needs a hip replacement in the next few months, and has lost his insurance due to divorce? Can he just go out to Bob's Health Insurance Company (licensed in his home state), and ask for a quote? Separate from the ACA "exchange"? I don't understand and my son is that hypothetical human. What is the range of premiums for low-ball insurance vs. Cadillac insurance. Single adult male, 43 years old.

Well good glad you knew what I was going to say, because it's the facts....which is why your lies are all the more silly.

this is why you are deflecting and starting to talk about food cost....because you were caught lying about the dems healthcare crisis.

Please. Go find someone to bother. You just posted that long debunked Walmart article where they replaced a Thanksgiving meal with a microwave dinner and a lump of coal. Hilarious.
