Trump expected to announce 'framework' to cut health costs

It isn't just a tax shelter. It allows for people to take responsibility and pay for their own healthcare expenses, minus taxes. I max my out as well and it comes in handy for large medical bills. It seems as though you would rather people not save and then look to the government for a handout when they have a medical bill.

Many can't even afford their utilities.

No one is doing anything to "cut healthcare costs."

ACA inevitably caused health INSURANCE rates to skyrocket, by requiring insurers to insure anyone who applied, without question. This caused people with injuries, expensive illnesses, and other pre-existing conditions to sign up, knowing that their premiums would not reflect their actual risk profile. Who didn't know this would inflate insurance premiums?

Trump's suggestion merely hides the failure of ACA in a different way, one that he thinks will help Republicans next November.

What is required is a SEPARATE INSURANCE program, backed by the Feds, to subsidize coverage of those with these expensive conditions, while allowing premiums for EVERYONE ELSE to float back to normal.

Everyone in Congress knows this. Democrats don't want it because it means admitting that ACA was a failure. Republicans don't want it because it doesn't really lower overall costs, it just shifts them into different buckets. But that's where we are headed. It is similar to "assigned risk" car insurance that many states used to have. Carve out the worst risks so that everyone else will have tolerable rates.

Democrats will oppose it. Their solution is just throw money at it and illegals get healthcare for free.
No.

The Democrat plan is to make healthcare so painful to the American people, that they will be herded into a single payer system in which THEY get the power over your life, or death, or health, and the power of the same over your children and they will then institute a 'if you vote agasinst us, we'll pul your healthcare' program.

Why is that my problem?

You should kick in $102 and help out the Pellews instead of insisting that others pay their bill for them.

I have no problem paying for the things I support.

Wow, it’s almost as if capitalism isn’t compatible with sectors where profitability isn’t the chief goal...imagine that!

I work for a healthcare system. Rates have not skyrocketed. That is a total lie.
Rates have risen...as they have risen virtually every year during my 19 years being associated with this place.

Dismiss if you like since I didn't include a link but I read the other day that since 2020 premiums have rose 249%. If so, arguing "skyrocketed" is largely semantics.

For the record I posted on this topic days ago. Independent thinker said something like "I dont buy it as truth as it came from GP".

Always first, at least 98% accurate. Sometimes in a rush, headlines can contain mistakes I suppose. Such as calling an "illegal" without proof. Be careful.

Pretty silly to tout giving $30B to people to give to insurance companies vs $30B to insurance companies on people's behalf. The market place ACA negotiates lower overall prices due to insuring people with pre-existing conditions who will see the largest increases.

Trump is trying to save face now that he caused the premiums to spike... just like the Democrats said.
Obamacare caused the premium to increase. Maybe they should've read what's in it, before they voted for it.

The proposal, known as the “Healthcare Price Cuts Act,” seeks to prevent spikes in ACA premiums, affecting nearly 22 million Americans as subsidies approach their expiration at the end of the year.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune and House Speaker Mike Johnson are expected to be briefed on the plan, the report said. The Republican-led initiative introduces measures aimed at curbing “surprise premium hikes” and eliminating “zero-premium” subsidies to counter alleged fraudulent enrollments.

Additionally, the proposal includes a deposit program meant to encourage lower-premium options on the ACA exchange, redirecting savings into taxpayer-funded Health Savings Accounts.

Health Savings Accounts is a great option and takes power away from health insurance companies. This would allow more ‘concierge medicine’ thus controlling costs.

If, if Trump can pull this off this will be a big deal.

Healthcare cost is a weapon wielded by the dems. If the Republicans can make an actual improvement to the current mess that is the health insurance industry, then it will certainly help push the “undecided crowd” further right.

We were promised ‘repeal and replace’ in 2016. Why has it taken so long and is this just another distraction from the Epstein scandal?

I was speaking about our billing in the healthcare system I work for.

Give money to some people and they don't purchase health insurance but stiff the ER time after time. What can go wrong? If that is what is proposed it will never pass either side of congress.

Meh, the ACA is just like the Climate Change hoax the vile dems foisted upon us.

We are left to deal with their folly while they move on to the next big thing like "Mah Affordability".

Never mind it was vile dem policy that made things "unaffordable" in the first place and the only "fix" they offer is further stealing from the productive class.

HSA can only be used for medical. Somewhat of a safeguard. The card wont pay for Vodka

Make it so billers can pull what is owed, if available. Keep garnishment open.
