Trump entertains Viktor Orban during NATO Summit

Yea, you know Trump admires Orban and Putin, both fascists, and neither of whom can be voted out of power. Trump is working on making the same thing possible in the United States. Do you think these two discussed what they can do to make Putin victorious in Ukraine?

Of course they did.

WASHINGTON, July 11 (Reuters) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met with Donald Trump on Thursday and the pair discussed the "possibilities of peace", a spokesperson for the prime minister said as he pushes for a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Trump and Orban met at Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in Florida "as the next stop of his peace mission," Orban's spokesperson said. "The discussion was about the possibilities of peace"

Nationalist leader Orban, a long-time Trump supporter, made surprise visits to Kyiv, Moscow and Beijing in the past two weeks on a self-styled "peace mission", angering NATO allies.

His meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin in particular vexed some other NATO members, who said the trip handed legitimacy to Putin when the West wants to isolate him over his war in Ukraine.

Orban traveled to Kyiv before visiting Moscow but did not tell Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy about his mission to Russia, Zelenskiy said, dismissing Orban's ambition of playing the peacemaker.

Orban is perhaps politically ambitious but so are most people in politics these days. But he is far from being a fascist. He pretty much himself prevented Hungary, historically more aligned with Nazi Germany, Russia, etc. than with more human liberties minded countries, from going full fascist.

We have full diplomatic relations with Hungary and there is zero reason that President Trump should not meet with him as both want peace between the Ukraine and Russia instead of that dragging on in endless war with massive costs in blood and treasure. And no peace will be possible if nobody is allowed to negotiate with Putin with whom we also have full diplomatic relations.

Let me remind you of something

The Logan Act, which has been the subject of much recent debate, generally makes it illegal for U.S. citizens to engage in unauthorized diplomacy with foreign countries with intent to “influence the measures or conduct” of a foreign government or to “defeat the measures of the United States .

There is zero law saying that two people cannot talk about it. Especially when they will act on it only after Trump is elected. He has to have his game plan in place on Day 1 of his presidency to have maximum effectiveness and efficiency.

And the Logan Act only pertains to negotiations with another country that is in dispute with the United States which Hungary is not. To enact the Logan Act in this case, you would have to assume the USA has an official policy of no peace and does want endless war between the Ukraine and Russia at massive cost of blood and treasure.

Every word of what you just said. Is wrong.

I said absolutely nothing that would violate that.

So NATO meets to discuss fighting for peace in Europe in the face of a maniac.

Trump meets with a European wannabe dictator to discuss giving Putin whatever he wants.

This tracks.

Neville Chamberlain part 2.
The History We're Made to Believe Is Upside Down, Backwards, and Make-Believe

At Munich, the West wanted to help turn Hitler loose on Russia. Chickenhawk war-profiteers always use their ignorant and illogical interpretation of it to enhance their profits. It's what suckered me into volunteering to fight in Vietnam.

That is (paraphrased) AGAINST THE POLCIY OF THE USA. That is specifically stated in the Logan Act. Trump was not making policy or negotiating anything. He was meeting with a world leader--that is in no way illegal--to discuss possibilities, ideas, strategies. If that is illegal, there are probably no members of Congress or any international business person and countless tourists who are not guilty of violating the Logan Act.

It's been US policy since before Trump, to provide arms and aid to Ukraine to stop further invasions from russia. Anything Trump says to any foreign agent to change that policy, is a direct violation of the Logan act.

Congress is not " without authority of the United States,"
And it holds for citizens of the US. Not tourists, or international business persons who are not citizens.

There is zero evidence and I'm sure none will ever be found that Trump attempted to get any foreign agent to change or interfere with existing U.S. policy or change their own policy in a manner affecting the U.S.. But the future President of the United States, if he is competent and responsible, wants to hit the ground running on Day One of his Presidency. And his administration can perfectly legally change any policy it wants that is within the prerogative of the President to change.

You don't know what was talked about in that meeting or how it was talked about. And to assume it was illegal is far more irresponsible than anything that might have been discussed in that meeting. It is NOT illegal for any American to entertain or be entertained by any foreign person who is legally allowed to be here.

It would be extremely foolish for any American to visit Russia right now and there is a strong travel advisory discouraging it. But we still technically have diplomatic relations with Russia and it is not illegal for me to go there. And should by some strange turn of events I should be given a chance to visit with a high ranking government official, even Putin himself, there, it would not be illegal for me to do so.

Do you know that there was a single indictment using the Logan Act EVER in all of U.S. History? And that was in 1799 and was never prosecuted? Most legal scholars now say the Logan Act is unconstitutional because of its vagueness and too broad a scope but it has never been challenged as nobody has ever been prosecuted under it.

If Trump doesn't plan on having any effect on US policy, then that the hell is he doing?

And until that day. Trump has to refrain from direct foreign intercourse.

At present the United States does not have an effective government.

When has Trump ever said "no" to anything Putin wanted.
Ahhh.................

President Trump and his administration have been tougher on Russia than any past administration.

  • President Obama's Secretary of Defense Robert Gates says it's "true" that President Trump's administration has been the toughest on Russia.
  • President Trump has repeatedly pushed back against Russian attempts to threaten American institutions, including imposing sanctions on hundreds of individuals and entities suspected of attempted election interference.
  • To hold Russia accountable for their repeated violations, President Trump withdrew the United States from both the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty and Open Skies Treaty.
  • The Trump Administration imposed harsh penalties in response to Russia's evasion of sanctions against North Korea, Syria, Iran, and Venezuela.
  • President Trump placed strong sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, warning Germany and other nations about the dangers of relying on Russian energy.

Joe Biden failed to stand up to Russia during his forty-even years in Washington.
