There is a metaphor concerning oil/gas that all Americans should be aware of.

The world's oil supply as a whole can be compared to a giant swimming pool, filled with oil, with thousands of pipes feeding it and thousands of drains draining it at all times. The higher the level of oil in the pool, the cheaper oil is on the market; the lower the level is, the higher the price of oil on the international market.

It makes no difference where the oil comes from or where it goes. All that matters is the level of oil in the pool.

So if Iran is prevented from selling its oil, that causes the level of oil in the poll to go down, and prices to go up. It doesn't make any difference whom the Iranians sell the oil to...China, India, wherever. Makes no difference. Same for Russian oil. Makes no difference whom they sell it to, although GIVING their oil to Cuba is the same as dumping it into a creek.

Trump partly lifts Iran sanctions to get their oil into the marketplace, which will help to stabilize global oil prices. It's as simple as that.
