Trump didn't say that he would have let them use Doral for free, at least, not until AFTER the decision was made to not use Doral. He's trying to make himself look like a good guy.

My question is, why can't it be held at Camp David? That is a taxpayer paid for government facility that is more than up to the standards required for room and security. Matter of fact, I highly doubt that the Doral could be made as secure as what Camp David is. Not only that, but Florida is hot as hell in June, but if it was held at Camp David, the temps wouldn't be as much of a concern.

I mean, it was good enough for use back in 2012 when they last held it here in the US.
