Trump Claims Tariffs Brought in Trillions of Dollars

Imposed on the country?

Ya know who pays em?

American consumers
No, we put a tariff on goods they ship to us. Also these tariffs are negotiation tools if some country wants to raise their tariffs, then we can raise ours as well. But tell me now, are you paying more now for stuff you buy from China?

The problem is, like so many things he says, it's a lie. We aren't taking in anywhere near "trillions."

According to Co-Pilot:

How much money have the tariffs brought in?

Quick Answer: In 2025, U.S. tariffs have generated tens of billions of dollars, with estimates ranging from about $88 billion year-to-date through August to projections of roughly $300 billion annually under current policies.

📊 Breakdown of Tariff Revenue in 2025

  • Year-to-date revenue: By August 2025, tariffs had raised $88 billion, with $23 billion collected in August alone.
  • Effective tariff rates: Average effective tariffs rose from 2.4% in January to about 10–11.5% mid-year, reflecting aggressive new trade measures.
  • Annual projections: Analysts estimate tariff collections could reach $300 billion annually, driven by baseline 10% tariffs on most imports and 30% tariffs on Chinese goods.
  • Budgetary impact: The Congressional Budget Office projects tariffs could reduce primary deficits by $2.5 trillion over 11 years, assuming current rates persist.
  • Political framing: President Trump has touted tariffs as generating “hundreds of millions” monthly, even proposing $2,000 “tariff dividend” checks to Americans.

Furthermore, if the tariffs are working and we have such a wonderful economy, why do 76% of Americans have a negative view of it?

Now tell us about the investments op.

Trump exaggerates. He always has, and always will.
That is why intelligent people know what he is saying is true, but exaggerated. Possibly significantly exaggerated.
While haters and less intelligent people just call it lying.

No shit? Prices spike when there are tariffs and drop when they are removed?

Congrats. You’re starting to get it but I doubt you realize it
Thanks captain obvious that you missed the point.

Because 92% of the time the lamestream media tells you Trump sucks and the economy is bad. Are you accepting the programming?
Ask yourself a simple question….”How much in tariffs have I paid.”
I guarantee you can’t answer that…but but but…you know tariffs are killing you.

So our previous trade deficit was in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Does this mean we should have a trade surplus now? I don’t know if the trillions in new taxes imposed by the blob go toward that figure or not.

Just another American consumer tax. This one by a phony Republican president. I remember when Republicans were against taxes.

MAGA will fight all day about keeping corporate taxes down, but defend those same companies having to eat ridiculous tariffs to keep their prices down.

This is aggressive ignorance. Arrogant stupidity. Dunning-Kruger.

Aggressive ignorance / arrogant stupidity is not embracing the idea of a consumption tax to replace and or subsidize income tax.
You taxpayer dependent beggars just don’t get it.

Think about that

If the ruling goes against him ― and there’s been some indication that the justices are skeptical of his argument ― he could be forced to refund tariffs already paid, which he warned in another social media post would cost the country $2 trillion.

Trump has cost consumers and US corporations $2 trillion dollars. Wouldn't it be great if the Supreme Court forced Trump to give us our money back?

This reminds me of the Boston Tea Party. Trump's tariffs seem like the unjust taxation the king put on tea. Give us our money back. Or are you now suddenly okay with taxation so long as it's called tariff not tax?

As usual, the Leftists squeal LIE!! LIE!! LIE!! when it is at most, an exaggeration of a fact. And there has been trillions of dollars committed to new investment in the US directly by Trump's efforts. You Trump Haters waste all of your time word parsing so you can distract yourself from the force of nature that is Donald Trump.
Oops, you forgot to say which part is a lie,and why.

This was a reflexive tantrum by you.

What we know is that prices are too ******* high and tariffs contribute heavily to that
