Trump Claims Tariffs Brought in Trillions of Dollars

The problem is, like so many things he says, it's a lie. We aren't taking in anywhere near "trillions."

According to Co-Pilot:

How much money have the tariffs brought in?

Quick Answer: In 2025, U.S. tariffs have generated tens of billions of dollars, with estimates ranging from about $88 billion year-to-date through August to projections of roughly $300 billion annually under current policies.

📊 Breakdown of Tariff Revenue in 2025

  • Year-to-date revenue: By August 2025, tariffs had raised $88 billion, with $23 billion collected in August alone.
  • Effective tariff rates: Average effective tariffs rose from 2.4% in January to about 10–11.5% mid-year, reflecting aggressive new trade measures.
  • Annual projections: Analysts estimate tariff collections could reach $300 billion annually, driven by baseline 10% tariffs on most imports and 30% tariffs on Chinese goods.
  • Budgetary impact: The Congressional Budget Office projects tariffs could reduce primary deficits by $2.5 trillion over 11 years, assuming current rates persist.
  • Political framing: President Trump has touted tariffs as generating “hundreds of millions” monthly, even proposing $2,000 “tariff dividend” checks to Americans.

Furthermore, if the tariffs are working and we have such a wonderful economy, why do 76% of Americans have a negative view of it?

Trumpstein is a certified CONMAN! For his cult followers who don't know what a "conman" is: "Confidence Man." He gains your confidence and trust by making a bunch of lofty, appealing promises then pulls the rug out from under you. He gets something from you (in this case votes and donations) then he turns on you without giving anything in return. A conman is a glorified liar. Everyone can be a liar sometimes. But conmen turn lying into an artform and a life style. That's Trumpanyahu in a nutshell.

Just another American consumer tax. This one by a phony Republican president. I remember when Republicans were against taxes.
Why is it you idiots are all worked up over US tariffs but ignore the rest of the world has been tarrificing the **** out of us for decades. You don’t mind theirs but cry over us playing the same game.

The deep state has tentacles everywhere. False stories galore everyday about Trump and/or Republicans or Non-Progs. Inner city people are the biggest losers with the Illegal Immigration agenda. And they vote for it. Why? Cause you guys are the conmen.

When I hear Trump literally call his followers "weaklings" and that he "doesn't need their support," that's not fake news.
When I hear Trump call one of the most America First Conservatives in Congress a "traitor," it's not fake news.
When I hear Trump say that he's going to give VISAs to 600,000 Communist Chinese, that's not fake news.
When I hear Trump tell Laura Ingraham that American workers aren't talented enough to do tough jobs, that's not fake news.
When I hear Trump tell reporters that he would have no problem living in New York under Mamdani and that they have a lot in common, that's not fake news.

As for the Epstein Files: You only hide something if and when you have something to hide.

I didn't dump Trump due to "fake news." I dumped Trump due to Trump lying about almost everything and breaking almost every promise. I don't follow Trump because he's Trump. I'd be in a cult if I did. I followed him because I believed his promises. They gave me some hope. When he broke his promises he destroyed his integrity and showed his true colors. He's a conman.

Tariffs were the sole source of revenue for the US until sometime after the civil war. They were the primary source until the income tax was enacted in 1913. Try again, junior.
SO?

Look what happened when Hoover implemented tariffs.

Why do you believe that lying orange retard?
You don’t mind theirs but cry over us playing the same game.
So, the US has been using tariffs to to protect companies and goods, But they were TARGETED to do just that, protect people's livelihood.

Foreign companies do the same.

The orange retard has been on a tirade about someone ALWAYS ripping us off for 35 years.

He has been an idiot who never should have been elected to the city council, let alone the presidency.

Yeah, he's a habitual liar. He also says his own approval ratings have never been higher. He is profoundly unwell.

And all that money came from American businesses, who have responded with higher prices and a massive slowdown in hiring.

One would only have to look at the various sectors outside of the AI buildout to see the damage done to their stock prices.

All of which was predicted.

Obama managed to pull the country out of the biggest recession in history. The "great recession", in less time.

And unlike Trump 45, Biden 46 left the economy better than he inherited it
are you sure biden was the one in charge of this?...

I don't wish to pay your new tax. My representative and Senators did not get to vote on whether I should have a tax hike to pay for tax breaks, I do not get, as I do not make enough money to make them advantageous. Fund your plutocrats some other way.

What tax breaks are those? You have got to start coming up with some better lies!

The tariffs - I have yet to see any actual benefit from them. At the start of the second Trump term, I was all hyped about them. Now almost a year later, where is the benefit? Everything is the same cost on the ground, if not a little more. Until Trump was talking about the tariffs, nobody cared about Tariffs at all on both sides. Now everyone is hyper-partisan about them, either you love them or absolutely hate them out of nowhere. Its just another gimick. More personality over substance.

Sadly those afflicted with TDS also seem to have a reading comprehension disability.

He never said we are bringing in trillions in tariffs. In your own OP he said we are taking in trillions in tariffs AND INVESTMENTS.

Now if your TDS motivated research can show that is an incorrect statement, go for it.

Otherwise please at least try to show a bit of integrity despite your TDS.

How many tariffs have you paid since Trump was elected?
Quite a few, base on food and Amazon shopping. You have, also. Foreign governments do no pay tariffs. Tariffs are paid out of the price charged to consumers, imposed by the country that established the tariff on incoming goods, in this case, it is the Trump administration, charging US Consumers.

Why are you buying foreign products? I guess an anti-American POS like you wouldn't give a shit anyway. You had to get your lie into your post again. That is not always true and is not true if you don't buy their product.

I like trump (whose whole family market products from overseas companies, for their profit), buy from the best bidder for my hard-earned, hard conserved dollars. If your leader knows he can get a better deal, and does, it must be completely American and MAGA patriotic, to strive to get the best deal possible. Or are you saying, he is just an anti-American POS, and than nobody should ever follow his example of duplicity and con artistry? OK for him, but not the rest of us?

I am fully in favor of US companies, modernizing their methods to produce competitively, but it could mean they have to invest in the process, rather than just reap the profits of the false market created here.
