Trump: Cancel Paris, Cut Funds for UN Climate, Save the coal industry

Trump: Cancel Paris, Cut Funds for UN Climate, Save the coal industry « JoNova

Trump vows to cancel the Paris climate deal, stop funding UN global warming programs and save the coal industry.

Gotta love these plans. No wonder the big-government fans are apoplectic over Donald Trump as he paints targets on their most sacred cows.

In Australia Bill Shorten, potential Prime Minister, called Trump: “Barking Mad.” Shorten, showing his diplomatic talent, was burning goodwill with a potential US president and 45% of voters in the largest economy in the world and our most important strategic ally.

Below, the Trump plans this week: to use cheap energy; to stop trying to change the weather, and finish feeding faceless foreign bureaucracies.

Trump: “We’re going to cancel the Paris climate agreement,” he said.

Trump slammed both rivals in his speech, saying their policies would kill jobs and force the United States “to be begging for oil again” from Middle East producers.

Trump said slashing regulation would help the United States achieve energy independence and reduce America’s reliance on Middle Eastern producers. “Imagine a world in which oil cartels will no longer use energy as a weapon,” he said.

Donald Trump Vows to Cut US Funding for UN Climate Change Programs

Trump said he would stop all payments of U.S. tax dollars to U.N. Global Warming programs.

The Guardian on Trump

In addition to his pledge to pull out of the Paris climate deal, Trump promised to only work with “environmentalists whose only agenda is protecting nature” and to “focus on real environmental challenges, not the phony ones”.

He contrasted this approach with that of Hillary Clinton, whose plan to combat climate change he called “a poverty expansion agenda”. Trump also attacked renewable energy sources, claiming that solar energy was too expensive and attacking wind turbines for “killing eagles”.

Vox – Trump Energy Speech

Coal production in the US has fallen 25% due to competition from fraking, and EPA regulations.

Donald Trump wants to bring back coal mining by repealing those EPA regulations. “We’re going to save the coal industry,” Trump promised

On renewables:

In his press conference with reporters before the speech, Trump elaborated: “I know a lot about solar,” he said. “The problem with solar is it’s very expensive.”

He also criticized wind turbines for killing birds in California. “Wind is killing hundreds and hundreds of eagles, one of the most beautiful, one of the most treasured birds,” he said. “So wind is a problem.”

“A Trump administration will focus on real environmental challenges, not the phony ones,” Trump said. “We’ll solve for environmental problems, like the need for clean and safe drinking water.” Later he elaborated: “My priorities are simple: clean air and clean water.”
Bripat, you are a sad, dumb, delusional individual. It pains me to see you this way.

What's "delusional" about what I posted?
Obviously that you agree these are good ideas.

Fuck coal and fuck Trump for denying the overwhelming scientific evidence from AROUND THE WORLD that man made climate change is real. You simply believe it it's not because republicans told you not to. Don't you think that's kind of pathetic?

Saying "fuck coal" is the same as saying "fuck poor people." Fuck energy that they can afford. The so-called overwhelming scientific evidence if far from convincing. The average global temperature has been flat or declining for almost 20 years.

Based on what dataset? Not even RSS and UAH say what you're saying with the global temperature...Every dataset has said it has warmed at least .13c since 2000. GISS and noaa twice that.

Yeah, they show warming after NASA ordered them to doctor their results to show warming.

Yeah I don't care if it will kill jobs. Fuck coal. I couldn't stress that enough. Oh and you not finding it convincing means jack shit because anyone who understand science would say otherwise. It's not like you know anything about geology or any of its fields.

I realize you don't give a flying fuck about the poor. No need for you to announce the fact.

The claim that you understand science doesn't pass the laugh test.

Yes, this is the same Trump that claims that California has no drought. And that Mexico will pay for a wall. And you stupid rubes eat it up. What a bunch of dumb asses you are. Willfully ignorant, and stupid to boot.

Just how is Trump going to make the utilities in Texas and Oklahoma that are investing in solar and wind, even when there is not a subsidy, cease to invest? And his lies concerning the bird kill by the wind mills is another lie, same that the 'Conservatives' have been pedaling for years, and has repeatedly been debunked here.
Repealing the EPA regulations that make it illegal to burn coal will take away the motivation to build solar and wind power.
Why would you want to take away the motivation to add solar and wind alternatives? Why would you want to rely on an energy source that is both polluting and unsustainable?

What moti vase you to hitch your wagon to the finite source, the polluting source of fossil fuel and discourage alternative sources of energy?

Repealing the EPA regulations that make it illegal to burn coal will take away the motivation to build solar and wind power.
And you prefer burning coal to deriving energy from solar and wind power?

Considering coal actually works 24/7 and is waaay cheaper and more efficient than either solar and waaaay, waaaaaay more than wind, yes.

The "motivation" is large amounts of cash from my pocket. If an energy technology can't make it in the free market, it deserves to die. Fossil fuels are quite clean these days, especially natural gas. They are also far cheaper than wind and solar. If you want to use solar power, no one is stopping you. Have at it. Just leave me alone to make my own power decisions.

Actually I refer to the experts and recognize the wide consensus around the world of peer reviewed studies that provide evidence. You cherry pick small studies many of which are funded by oil companies saying otherwise.

Yes, I prefer not to freeze in the dark because it has been snowing for 3 days straight.

I also don't relish the idea of paying 4 times the price for power that is unreliable.

What about you?
Solar energy is presently an infant technology. The cost will come down as improvements are developed. And if you freeze in the dark because it's been snowing for three days the reason is you failed to install an adequate storage system.

BriPat, keep in mind that when the motor car was first introduced the common criticism was it cost so much more to buy and to run than did a horse and buggy. At the time that was true. And that reasoning is analogous to your criticisms and expressed doubts about solar and wind.

You are, of course, a little fucking liar. All the real scientific studies show a very rapid warming. And having live over 72 years, I have seen much of that warming, and it's effects in the mountains and high desert that I love.
