We weren't being invaded and bombed. We are an awesome exception.
I could care less about Zelensky. But REMEMBER ITS THE RUSSIANS THAT UNILATERALLY INVADED UKRAINE.

No it doesn't. We held elections during every war we've fought, since the civil war.
Zelensky did exactly the thing you said Trump would do (cancel elections to stay in power), and you cheered for it.

This is serious. Either trump is stupidly supporting the murdering thug Poootin through ignorance, or he is intentionally making the US an ally of Russia.
He lied and said Ukraine started the war. He lied and said Zelenskyy will not allow election when Ukrainisn law states elections may not be held during an act of war. He lied again when he said Zelenkyy' approval is below 5%. It is over 50%.
trump wants to replace Zelenskyy with a Poootin puppet....which isvexactly what trump.is....a POOOTIN PUPPET.
How far will the repubs in Congress allow trump to push Russian propaganda? We are on the verge of losing our democracy.

The problems that led to Zelenskys election were caused by a Putin puppet named Yanukovich. So Trump wants to recreate the corruption that Ukraine was trying to get rid of.

We were fighting for the very structure of our own country, and had a substantial minority that wanted to just let the South leave.
We were also not winning the war at the time, and Lincoln made sure the election went on anyway.

Churchill suspended elections in GB in 1940, setting up a national government to get the country through to the end of the war. In November, all political parties in Ukraine agreed to postpone holding elections until the end of the war.
Suspension of elections during time of war is not unheard of.
