Trump calls for unlimited debt.

I'm not for abolishing the debt limit; however, if the debt limit is going to simply be extended every so many months anyway, then what's the point of having a so called debt limit?

I'd say for the reasons you aren't for ending it.

Fiscal conservatives have to win elections too and citizens aren't going to see prices go down when governments keep spending like drunk sailors. In fact, I'd say that fiscal conservatives supported Trump probably to a higher % than any other demographic supported the Dems. He promoted himself as Argentina of 2024 not Argentina of 2019.

GOP should put forward a bare-bones "keep the government running" Bill. Dems will reject it and the government will shut down until Trump takes office. It will be due to the Dems not accepting to fund it though, not the GOP and the media will ask "why didn't you fund the government? Why do you want all of this extra spending that Americans aren't interested in right now"?

GOP can easily say "we just want to fund the government, we don't want more massive spending".

If Trump doesn't get spending under control his legacy will be greatly tarnished. The lasting impact could be the death of millions and great loss of Americas influence in the world when China eats the Wests lunch everywhere.

IB Times? Relax lefties, everything is going to turn out OK in spite of your anger and disappointment. Where the hell is the current president these days? Jan 20 can't come soon enough.

Trump's words aren't "lefty", they simply are what they are.

He did this last time also. MAGA argued he didn't but he did.

Seems Musk isn't upset with the budget bill for being loaded in debt but rather for not being loaded in MAGA debt.

Trump Calls For Abolishing Debt Limit: 'Smartest Thing' Congress Could Do
Has the "debt ceiling" ever limited the amount of debt that the Federal Government has taken on? Or do they in fact just raise it every time it's reached?

Is it perhaps just Kabuki Theater designed to make the plebs feel better about the financial rape that's being done to them and their offspring?

"Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions — everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses." -- Juvenal

Considering the debt ceiling is raised whenever the government wants more money, why even have it? It’s a paper tiger and a waste of time.
At least votes could keep us from borrowing more. Dont reckon it ever does though.... ****. **** our fed gov.

The Fed will make sure we're always over our heads in debt.

Fiscal conservatives?

There are none at the Federal level.

They would rather give up their porn with Mike Johnson and his son or giving up having gay sex in Senate chambers than they would being fiscally conservative.

The only thing that would be worse for them would be outlawing the killing of unborn babies.

Supposedly that is why MAGA argued Trump needed to win to stop.

No?
Argued to stop what? The "debt ceiling" from being raised?

Never heard mention of the "debt ceiling" during the campaign, I do seem to recall the fiscal portion of the campaign being centered around reducing federal spending, one is not synonymous with the other given the current federal structural deficits.

But hey if President Trump & crew can figure out a way to eliminate future borrowing, I'm all for it, however You and I both know that the existing "debt ceiling" mechanism isn't it.
