the Saudi-US alliance is transactional and not the deep friendship that princes who focus on foreign policy profess to their American counterparts

"i know Saudi Arabia and America will always have a special relationship...as long as you keep selling us your weapons" - MBS to Trump

Sheikh MBS did a corruption shakedown...a sheikhdown

MBS races lamborghinis around Riyadh...just to give you an idea of his excess...his dream is to be richer than Trump or any other US business tycoon

this was the crime of the century, my friends! i know all about MBS, doing "oppo research" on him right now!

He likes strongmen, dictators, and even Communist dictators for the power they wield, wishing he could get away with wielding power that way, poor little guy. Is surprising, he would actually brag to a reporter about saving that guy's ass and making Congress quit investigating the murderous prince as if it were something to be proud of. We knew of his character, or actually lack, there of. This book and the interviews on tape are more about further proof of his bad judgement. It is not as if he didn't know, he was sitting down with a 2 time Pulitzer Prize winning writer/reporter known for getting the inside story on a crooked president. Presidential judgement or managerial judgement doesn't get any worse than that, from a public relations standpoint. He knew he had to pay off his whores, to keep them quiet before the last election, how dumb do you have to be to fess up on tape with somebody like Bob Woodward in the same year you are facing another election.
Tbe rise of kleptocracy in America ala Trump.
Your hero--the winning writer/reporter was also a huge ass Terrorist.........not really bothered about him being killed off. Why are you?

few of MBS' ideas are innovative, but in the context of Saudi history of resisting change, they are revolutionary.

Saudi Arabia is so change averse, it didn't outlaw slavery until 1962 under pressure from JFK

Not innovative for Murder Incorporated and spineless autocrat leaders of regressive countries. It is just new, that an American President would save his ass, but you know how trump is, anything for a communist or dictator or autocrat in general.

President Donald Trump bragged that he protected Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman from congressional scrutiny after the brutal assassination of the American journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

That's according to the veteran reporter Bob Woodward's upcoming book, "Rage," set to be released next Tuesday. Insider obtained a copy of the book.

Woodward conducted 17 wide-ranging interviews with the president for the book, as well as interviews with multiple senior White House officials and former administration officials. Still, Trump last month slammed the book as "a FAKE, as always, just as many of the others have been."

...

And now the current President, instead of protecting the America people, ignored his NSA director when he told him - in January! - that Covid is “the greatest national security threat” — Trump then stood down and knowingly allowed 200,000 Americans to die! That’s sixty-seven 9/11s! That’s murder In the extreme. No American, other than Jefferson Davis/Robert E. Lee has killed more Americans than Donald J. Trump. And you can say that Trump didn’t actually kill them with his own hands, and I can tell you, for a fact, that Osama bin Laden did not fly a single one of those goddamned planes.

Trump is a mass killer.

Just 53 days until this bastard gets to hear the verdict of the American people, whose collective heart, now crushed, will rise."
Not at all true.
The information Trump was given was that covid-19 only killed about 30,000 a month, which IS essentially true.
So then why have 200,000 died?
Because instead of like seasonal flu that we achieve herd immunity over, we instead followed the awful advice of the CDC, and went with social distancing, flattening the curve, and masks.
Those prevented herd immunity, stretched out the duration of the epidemic, and vastly increased the death total.
If instead we had gone with herd immunity, then it would have been over in March, and 150,000 would have been saved.
So you can't blame Trump.
It is being given bad advice and false information.
He tried to do the right thing.

the US should not get involved in a princely struggle over who would inherit the kingdom from King Salman

and yet that's precisely what Trump did, folks!
Sure we should.
That is exactly the sort of thing we should be doing.
What we should NOT be doing is instead just using military force, like we did with Saddam, Qaddafi, Assad, Allende, Noreiga, etc.

Nonsense.
Everyone supports terrorism under the right circumstances.
For example, the French Resistance in WWI were exactly terrorists.
But they were terrorists for good reasons.
When a powerful government terrorizes, it is for bad reasons.
Huge difference.

You have no moral compass....defending one's homeland from invaders is NOT terrorism. Why don't you get this?

Sure it is terrorism when you use secret methods like car bombs to protect your homeland. Why else would they call the Palestinians "terrorists"?
Terrorism is just when you attack unarmed people and use methods that are deliberately painful.
Like when we murdered General Qasem Soleimani when he was unarmed and had committed no crime, with a missile that used swirling blades to cut him into little pieces.
Can't get any more terrorist than that.
The point is not whether or not it is terrorism.
When ever you kill in order to instill fear in others, that is terrorism.
The point is whether or not it is done for noble or evil purposes.
And the US is the largest and worst source of evil terrorism in the whole world.
For example, we caused the murder of Allende, Saddam, Qaddafi, and many others that we wanted or tried to kill, like Assad, the Ayatollah, etc.
None of those can be remotely considered defensive, legal, or remotely moral.

“Under a Biden-Harris administration, we will reassess our relationship with the Kingdom, end US support for Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen, and make sure America does not check its values at the door to sell arms or buy oil" - Biden campaign statement

Khashoggi’s murder was stupid and odious, but Biden’s progressive virtue-signaling would undercut every interest Biden hopes to promote: US national security and human rights first among them

Saudi authorities and intelligence officials are now on the forefront of fighting extremism and provide intelligence that regularly saves American lives. Frankly, it is not Saudi Arabia but rather Turkey, Qatar, and Iran that have become the world’s greatest exporters of radicalism, hate, and incitement.
