Voice of America was first funded by the government in 1942. It was put there to deliver a voice for Democracy. Every president (both Republican and Democrat) since then (with the exception of Trump) has supported the agency.

VOA will serve as a consistently reliable and authoritative source of news. VOA news will be accurate, objective, and comprehensive.

Here is the definition of Free Speech:

Freedom of speech is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or a community to articulate their opinions and ideas without fear of retaliation, censorship, or legal sanction.

No, it is not supposed to be "the voice of the president". It is supposed to be the voice of the Constitution and the Democracy it represents.

When you allow it to be the voice of ONE MAN, then it is simply his opinion and not the opinion of the nation. That is called a Dictatorship.

If he wants the definition of Free Speech changed, that has to be done through the votes of the nation (on the subject itself) and with the approval of the Supreme Court.

and that is why we have a Democracy, where things are decided by the people and the Constitution that we all vowed to protect as Americans. Voting Trump in is one thing but deciding to get rid of free speech is another, which has to be voted on specifically, by the people (Trump cannot make that decision).
