Trump sharpens attacks on US media as Voice of America employees put on administrative leave​

Donald Trump expanded on his threats to the media on Friday, suggesting actions of the press should be deemed illegal and subject to investigation.

“I believe that CNN and MS-DNC, who literally write 97.6% bad about me, are political arms of the Democrat [sic] party and in my opinion, they’re really corrupt and they’re illegal, what do they do is illegal,” the president said during a contentious speech at the Department of Justice.

“These networks and these newspapers are really no different than a highly paid political operative,” Trump continued, claiming that CNN and MSNBC are corrupt.

“And it has to stop, it has to be illegal, it’s influencing judges and it’s really changing law, and it just cannot be legal. I don’t believe it’s legal, and they do it in total coordination with each other,” he added.

The Voice of America is NOT an independent part of the Press. You do understand that, right? It is a government entity and as such, HAS NO FREE SPEECH rights.

Why would we want a government entity broadcasting what essentially amounts to sedition and treason to our enemies?

Let us just say that it is a "step" in the direction in stopping free speech.

Voice of America was first funded by the government in 1942. It was put there to deliver a voice for Democracy. Every president (both Republican and Democrat) since then (with the exception of Trump) has supported the agency.

Is VOA a trustworthy source?

VOA will serve as a consistently reliable and authoritative source of news. VOA news will be accurate, objective, and comprehensive.

They have been attacking Trump because Trump is attacking Democracy and Trump doesn't LIKE IT!

So instead of proving them wrong (by supporting Democracy), he shuts them down so they CANNOT BE HEARD. That is fighting free speech.
