Trump and Palin?? Please Explain...

This has nothing to do with Biden, Hillary or anybody else besides Sarah Palin. I now understand the move for Trump... it keeps the buzz, free press, and discussion centered on him and rallies support from her base. It is a very smart marketing move, however I do wish the discussion could be more policy/issue based rather than a pop culture thing... but he is trying to win a race so I get it.

I am an independent so I am not playing a partisan game. I usually avoid the negative talk about others however, this is a phenomenon that amazes me and Im curious if serious republicans relate with her or if they are embarrassed with her as one of the party's top Reps.

As for Palin, I still don't understand her "Base". One of you made a point about respecting her for getting elected on her own and making an oil deal in Alaska... Ok. But I am still baffled as to how she can be so popular on such a large scale. I honestly get the impression that she shows up to an event, gets fed a few talking points, then goes out there with an over-exaggerated personality and delivers her speech in a way like she is speaking to a bunch of toddlers. I honestly can't tell if she is speaking on her own or simply being a puppet. It makes me cringe and is very hard to watch on a serious level. Watch her in the video below for a couple of minutes and please tell me what i'm missing.

Does anybody really respect Sarah Palin on a political level? I know she got popular with the VP nomination that ended up bombing McCains campaign, then used her popularity to start a reality TV show, however, I hear many conservatives talking about this influence that she has... I just don't see it. Listening to her talk is like listening to a mindless robot spitting out conservative talking points to a kindergarten class. Why is Trump putting so much weight on this endorsement?? Is it because they are both Reality TV stars? Can anybody explain this?

I can't explain it but you're to be commended on that mindless robot reference. Don't you feel sorry for her husband......having to listen to that horse shit 24/7?

Very easy explanation. First off let me say that NO I do not respect Sarah Palin on a political level or any other level for that matter. She seems like a nice woman and all but she is pretty wacky. Her lips move and nothing but nonsense comes out. Listening to her go on and on makes me embarrassed for her. So I'm with you on my feelings about her, but here's the thing. For some reason conservatives and TP's LOVE her. I don't understand it, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that they LOVE her.

So its huge for him because with her endorsement she will pull in everyone that was on the fence between him (Trump) and Cruz. She will also draw Cruz supporters over because they like her. So he wins on all levels. Again, it doesn't matter what you or I think, what matters is that she's popular and she'll draw in many supporters that were on the fence or in Cruz's camp. I'm not saying there will be a mass exodus of Cruz supporters to Trumps camp, but he will syphon off a lot of his supporters. Thats why its huge and thats why he's making a big deal about it.

Frankly....I don't think it makes much difference in the big picture. The shape Republicans have left our great nation in immediately following the Bush terms is such that they may very well never be in the white house again. We have a substantial number of Blacks, Latinos, poor folks, Gays etc. that there's a good chance that Republicans should concentrate of their gerrymandering and manipulation of voting conditions because it looks like they might never expect to really carry the big picture again. Like I've pointed out here before.....the white house selects supreme court justices and two branches out of three ain't bad.

5 years ago, I would have agreed with you, however the turn over of Congress from Dem to Rep suggests otherwise. I think there are enough voters in the middle that do not pledge blind allegiance to a single party, who are waiting for a trustworthy candidate with good ideas to back. Both party's have pro's and con's. Honestly, I wish we could wipe the party system out and start taking on issues at face value. Alternately if we could grow a majority party that has the conservative fiscal views of the republicans with the progressive social views of the Demo's, I think we would be in a better situation... I believe that is where most swing voters are sitting, I being one of them.

The Dems have won the popular vote in five of the last six national elections and when all the "nailed down" Democrat votes are tallied I can't even imagine Republicans winning the white house again...especially if they keep initiating wars and spending $600 billion a year on defense. We're stronger militarily than the next eight most powerful nations combined. What the hell does the Republican party want?.....well....I mean other than tax cuts for the rich and full support of their military/industrial complex.

An impressive example of internal rhyme — if a tad violent, as Mrs. Palin describes the Republican establishment trying to quash the anger of the party’s rebellious base.
_____

“We’re talking about no more Reaganesque power that comes from strength. Power through strength.”
Whoops! Mrs. Palin seems to be grasping for President Ronald Reagan’s signature Cold War slogan, “Peace through strength.”
_____
“And you quit footing the bill for these nations who are oil-rich, we’re paying for some of their squirmishes that have been going on for centuries. Where they’re fighting each other and yelling ‘Allahu akbar,’ calling jihad on each other’s heads forever and ever. Like I’ve said before, let them duke it out and let Allah sort it out.”

Here, Mrs. Palin accomplishes many things unusual for a political speaker: She recites the Arabic phrase for “God is great,” and, more notably, coins a new word, squirmishes, a cross between squirm (which means to wriggle the body from side to side) and skirmish (which means a brief fight or encounter between small groups). Twitter embraced the new term instantly.
_____
“How about the rest of us? Right-winging, bitter-clinging, proud clingers of our guns, our God, and our religion, and our Constitution.”
Remember President Obama’s famously dismissive description of conservatives as bitter people who “cling to guns or religion” before a crowd of wealthy donors in San Francisco? Mrs. Palin wants to make sure you never forget it.
_____
“He is from the private sector, not a politician. Can I get a ‘Hallelujah!’ ”
Mrs. Palin goes godly as she enthuses about the business world.
_____
“Mr. Trump, you’re right, look back there in the press box. Heads are spinning, media heads are spinning. This is going to be so much fun.”
This is perhaps the most accurate statement in her speech.
_____
“In fact it’s time to drill, baby, drill down, and hold these folks accountable.”
The slogan Mrs. Palin popularized in 2008 just won’t die. And it has taken on metaphoric meaning now.

“Well, and then, funny, ha ha, not funny, but now, what they’re doing is wailing, ‘Well, Trump and his Trumpeters, they’re not conservative enough.’ ”
We’re still stumped by this one.

“And he, who would negotiate deals, kind of with the skills of a community organizer maybe organizing a neighborhood tea, well, he deciding that, ‘No, America would apologize as part of the deal,’ as the enemy sends a message to the rest of the world that they capture and we kowtow, and we apologize, and then, we bend over and say, ‘Thank you, enemy.’ ”
It’s a mouthful. But this section, in which Mrs. Palin contrasts Mr. Trump with Mr. Obama, has everything she relishes: Mockery of Mr. Obama’s early years working in Chicago neighborhoods, right-wing accusations that the president has apologized for America, and a crude reference to him as a submissive sissy on foreign policy.

Her biggest misstep in the speech: In 2016, fear of suicide bombers is real for many, not the stuff of political punch lines.

I feel sure you won't have much trouble convincing most voters that they don't want anything else to do with Sarah......even share her support group!

I saw about 5 minutes of one of her shows. She shot at a Caribou 2 times from 75 yards and missed both times. One of the guys with her shot and killed it. She posed with the dead animal as if she shot it.

must be Uncle Ted's sister.

I never watched again.

Yes, the F.B.I. should nail her for sending Top Secret emails over an unsecured server and for using her job as Secretary of State to get donations to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation. Hang her. Any tree will do.

Why are you so obsessed with Hillary? She really shrinks your junk, doesn't she?

Of course she does. I grow tired of all the small meaningless little attacks Liberals lodge on here against candidates who are not under F.B.I. investigation.

Yes, the Democrats do pander to the "victims", the thugs, and the lazy entitlement groups of society.

I get why people follow Palin... It is just mind blowing that a person like this is in the political spot light... Maybe there can be a Kayne West / Sarah Palin Ticket in the future!

Check out 13:50 when she states her desire to run the Department of Energy. She thinks she is qualified because it deals with "oil and gas and minerals that God dumped on this part of the earth..." The DOE doesn't even deal with oil and gas!!!! The department of energy's focus is on the country's nuclear programs. Thus proving that she is simply a "talking point robot" and when she does try to "wing it" and think for herself, pure jibberish comes out. How any group can defend or identify themselves with a person like this amazes me. Republicans need to be better than that! She can be that fun, wacky, class clown type of friend, that every loves to talk to at party's, but world leader?? Political spokesperson?? head of a government department?? That is just plain crazy... I hear nonstop bashing on the character of Obama, Clinton and anything Liberal so how that group can then rally behind a Palin to support their Conservative views just screams hypocrisy. Republicans and conservatives... Please find, better yet, Please demand better representatives to support your cause... Palin is just making your look bad.

70.4 million -- The number of women who cast ballots in the 2008 presidential election, versus 60.7 million men. 56% - The percentage of female voters who voted for Barack Obama in 2008, 43% for John McCain.

President Barack Obama won the two-party vote among female voters in the 2012 election by 12 points, 56% to 44%, over Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

We certainly do not want another 20 Trillion in expenditures for entitlement programs.

LMAO!! You got a mouse in your pocket? What's this We shit?

If you're talking about the national debt it occurred during the Reagan/Bushes years. Obama has spent about $2 trillion just paying interest on the debt he inherited:

Well Idiot, that's what Bernie's proposals are estimated to cost. I don't dwell in the past, I look to the future.
