Frankly....I don't think it makes much difference in the big picture. The shape Republicans have left our great nation in immediately following the Bush terms is such that they may very well never be in the white house again. We have a substantial number of Blacks, Latinos, poor folks, Gays etc. that there's a good chance that Republicans should concentrate of their gerrymandering and manipulation of voting conditions because it looks like they might never expect to really carry the big picture again. Like I've pointed out here before.....the white house selects supreme court justices and two branches out of three ain't bad.

5 years ago, I would have agreed with you, however the turn over of Congress from Dem to Rep suggests otherwise. I think there are enough voters in the middle that do not pledge blind allegiance to a single party, who are waiting for a trustworthy candidate with good ideas to back. Both party's have pro's and con's. Honestly, I wish we could wipe the party system out and start taking on issues at face value. Alternately if we could grow a majority party that has the conservative fiscal views of the republicans with the progressive social views of the Demo's, I think we would be in a better situation... I believe that is where most swing voters are sitting, I being one of them.

The Dems have won the popular vote in five of the last six national elections and when all the "nailed down" Democrat votes are tallied I can't even imagine Republicans winning the white house again...especially if they keep initiating wars and spending $600 billion a year on defense. We're stronger militarily than the next eight most powerful nations combined. What the hell does the Republican party want?.....well....I mean other than tax cuts for the rich and full support of their military/industrial complex.

We certainly do not want another 20 Trillion in expenditures for entitlement programs.
