Trump and Musk Are Going to War Against Military Veterans

Is President Trump planning on elimination Veterans Affairs?

There's been a lot of discussion about President Trump's plans for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently. While there are no plans to eliminate the VA, there have been significant changes proposed under his administration1.

Trump's 2025 plan includes initiatives like expanding healthcare options through community care and increasing efficiency in claims processing. However, there have been concerns about potential impacts on VA staffing levels and benefits1. VA Secretary Doug Collins has assured that benefits will not be cut and that the focus is on making the VA more efficient and effective.

Trump is gonna gut the VA

Democrats tax SS payments…. Terrible program
So does Republican Utah. It is most GOP states, I would bet.

It's both.

As of 2025, ten states tax Social Security benefits. Here's the list:

  1. Colorado: Exemptions apply for those 65 or older with incomes below $24,000.
  2. Connecticut: Exemptions for single filers with incomes below $75,000 and joint filers below $100,000.
  3. Minnesota: Exemptions phase out at $105,380 for joint filers and $82,190 for singles.
  4. Montana: Taxable based on adjusted gross income (AGI).
  5. Nebraska: 80% exempt for 2024, full exemption starting in 2025.
  6. New Mexico: Exemptions for single filers below $100,000 and joint filers below $150,000.
  7. Rhode Island: Exemptions for those below $104,200 (single) or $130,250 (joint).
  8. Utah: Exemptions for incomes below $45,000 (single), $75,000 (head of household), or $37,500 (separate filers).
  9. Vermont: Exemptions for single filers below $50,000 and joint filers below $65,000.
  10. West Virginia: Exemptions for single filers below $50,000 and joint filers below $100,000.

SS should not be taxed at any level. Do you agree? Which party would lose their shit over SS not being taxed…. At any level??

Leave it to the desperate left to play the Veteran card when they lost their way. When draft dodger Bill Clinton tried to cut the size of government, democrats supported the effort because they knew it was nothing but political smoke and mirrors B.S.

Veterans were cut off from the VA from 1986 to 2003...unless you were a war veteran.

It started during Reagan, just like the tax on tips. Both Repubs and Dems tax Social Security payments.
Did tax on Social Security originate with Reagan or Republicans? Would Democrats go along with legislation today to not tax SS?

I don’t care which party pushed for it, taxing Social Security income is dumb.

Congress began taxing Social Security benefits during President Ronald Reagan's administration. In 1983, the National Commission on Social Security Reform, also known as the Greenspan Commission, recommended taxing Social Security benefits for higher-income beneficiaries1. This recommendation was enacted into law, and starting in 1984, up to 50% of Social Security benefits became taxable for individuals with provisional incomes exceeding certain thresholds
