Trans Pacific Partnership TPP was the China killer... China were very seriously worried about it as it moved Chinese manufacturing to other low cost countries who then would play by US rules...
This would have put China under severe pressure to play by the rules(set by US for US interests) or everything goes to Vietnam or Indonesia...
FYI: Biggest problem for TPP was to stop internal lobbying so heavily for US corporate interests over even the US workers interests..

USAID is about soft power, US diplomatically have been using them to shape countries to see how siding with the US is in their best interst (which in a lot of cases is)

USAID was an EO. TRUMP has full authority to end it by EO. Funding of foreign aid is being done by The State Department in compliance with law passed b y congress.

As I have pointed out for a number of years when Trump came to office last time he cancelled Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) and replaced with nothing. That gave China a massive win, one that still pays off today. China couldn't have written a better script (See Links below).

But the guy is back and China have just got a new present... Cancelling USAID, again China take another huge win...

So US is tariffing aluminium from other countries so it can grow its own production of the metal. But US will need access to Ore from mines... US doesn't have major mines in bauxite...

So lets for example take the number one country for bauxite resource in the world... Guinea in West Africa...
So access to their mines could give the Ore needed for this protected business..

So how have we for decades fostered that relationship and maintained goodwill... As we say, soft power?
