I have lots of friends that visited a VA hospital in the past five weeks. The majority say services suck, still.
Me? I don't and won't go to the VA. Not only is the nearest VA three hours away, but I can afford private health insurance and have a provider that's 15 minutes away.
No, because that is not the reason.
Zero for me. When I did visit the VA hospital, as a Veteran, I was told they do not help all Veterans at all.

It's called equality, many departments are being/need slimmed down irrespective of the target audience. Veterans will be just fine, the workers left will just work a little bit harder. I don't discriminate, everyone are the same in underpants, you might put people and their jobs in some kind of importance hierarchy, I don't. Whether you joined the army, serve fries, teach, brain surgeon, president etc.. every job and person is just as important to society.

VA health care
- Veterans who served on active duty and didn't receive a dishonorable discharge may be eligible for VA health care
- Veterans who served in combat after November 11, 1998 may be eligible for free VA health care for up to five years after discharge
- Veterans who served in the Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, or other combat zones after 9/11 may be eligible for VA health care
