I had a 25 percent cut in my team's workforce when they sent the National Guard to the border, and we actually increased production while they were gone and even more when they returned.

I'll play the worlds smallest violin for them. I've always worked in the private sector, I remember in the 80's when a client asked my boss for a discount, "We're a business, not a charity". And that's the problem with governments and local governments, they operate like charities. I remember at a managers meeting in the early noughties, my boss said to the group, "If you don't enjoy what you're doing, life is too short, get out (resign) and go do what you enjoy". Companies change, and now the US government and agencies are changing, folk are being made to work, departments are being slimmed down. I couldn't give a stuff about your feelings for these fragile workers, I'm from a business background.
