FURTHER, in order for there to be a recession in March, there would have needed to be negative GDP growth in November and December, which is laughable. IN FACT the first quarter of 2020 was (just barely) positive for GDP, so there has been NO RECESSION UNDER TRUMP at all.

I notice that not once did you mention WHY the states shut down. The 3.5 million Americans who got sick, overwhelming the heath care system. The lack of sufficient beds to deal with all of the sick people. 140,000 dead Americans, and the highest rates of infection and death in the world.
The rest of the first world shut down hard, tested like crazy, and shut the virus down. We listened to scientists, bought PPE, took the WHO tests, and prepared our people. We squashed the curve, and re-opened safely. When Justin Trudeau was asked about saving the economy, he said we'll discuss the economy, once our people are safe. He then assured business people that the government would be there for them, once the virus was under control. We are just getting ready enter Phase 3 re-opening, and we shut down WEEKS earlier than the USA.
Americans, with no real leadership in the pandemic failed to properly plan, prepare, or execute any sort of meaningful response to stop the spread of the pandemic. We have more that have recovered from the Coronavirus than any place other than Brazil. Our death rate per capita is less than Spain, Sweden, UK, Italy and several other countries. The US case fatality rate is at 4.0%,, Canada is at 8.0%, Germany 4.3%. Also at least 10 of the 25 countries are seeing a rise in cases, not just the United States. The fatality rate as reported by the CDC is less then 1 percent not the bullshit claim of 4 to 8 percent by only counting those that were hospitalized.
We're not counting "only those who were hospitalized", were only counting the "resolved cases" - where the patient has either recovered or passed away. The "active cases" aren't counted because these people are still sick and we don't know how it's going to turn out for them yet.
The fatality rate as erroneously reported by the CDC, is based on total cases. This is done to please Trump. The ACTUAL fatality rate is calculated by taking the deaths as a percentage of "resolved cases", not total cases. Deaths plus recovered cases = 1,727,528. 139,137 deaths, out of 1.7 million cases where the patient has either died or recovered = 8.1% death rate.
You still have 1.8 million people who are sick and we don't know how many of them will die, but based on today's numbers, more the number of deaths could easily double, and that's if nobody else gets sick.

Yes, Canada has a 10.1% death rate, 81% of which were elderly patients in nursing homes. Most of our nursing home deaths occurred in private "for profit" nursing homes. The publically owned "county homes" had a better record.

ONE WEEK earlier than the rest of Canada, and with no travel restrictions in place, there were school trips to Europe, and familly vacations to Disney World. When Ontario went on Spring Break, the Premier told Ontarians that schools would be closed not only for spring break, but for two weeks thereafter. While there were no travel restrictions in place, everyone returning from outside Canada was expected to quarantine for 14 days. It was the beginning of our shut down. Many who had planned to travel south, cancelled travel to the US.
There is going to be a public enquiry at the end of this, and "for profit" nursing homes are going to be under intense scrutiny. Canada's deaths of the elderly are the worst in the first world. The home my DIL was working in told her not to wear PPE, because it "frightened the residents". These nursing homes, many of which are owned by American companies, use American staffing practices. I expect they'll be booted out of Canada.
