why does carter shock you ...a lot of southern families who could afford it...send their sons off to boarding o forgive me....military schools.....one in texas takes them at 5 yr old

I would have assumed he went to University of Georgia, or Georgia State University, or State University of Georgia, or Georgia University, or something like that.

The 20 year curse ended with Reagan who survived his assassination attempt

jake that was mean you googled and you know it
Why would one need to google the answer? Grant was a career officer , Carter was a Naval Officer and Eisenhower was the Commander of the Invasion of Europe. Washington was a Militia officer but never received formal training in the military from a school.

Right off hand

Carter was a submariner but don't think he attended Annapolis
Bush was a pilot but am sure we isn't a West Pointer
JFK was a reserve naval officer
Ike was of course a West Point grad.
Harry Truman served in WWI.
FDR never donned a uniform.

That's all I can think of right now.

Andrew Jackson "won" the War of 1812
Teddy Roosevelt in San Juan Hill
William Henry Harrison in Battle of Tippecanoe
Grant, Benjamin Harrison and McKinley in the Civil War

Carter did graduate from Annapolis

Only Grant of those was a career officer The rest were militia or volunteers.

Huh? You don't consider Eisenhower to be a career soldier? He was groomed from birth and was destined to go to West Point before he finished secondary school.
