In order for a Republican to win, they have to overcome the fact more Democrats vote than Republicans.
Democrats outnumber republicans by 6%. Among Independents, more vote Democrat than Republican for the past 15 years or so. Democrats have a 5% advantage among Independent voters (which are really not that independent since 81% of them vote mostly for one party). - Pew research
So it is accurate to say that a Republican candidate has to overcome a 11% total advantage Democrats have.
So when a Republican wins - it is going to be because the Democrats are really fucking up.
And right now that is certainly the case.

There was evidence that 100% truly showed that some illegal immigrants did vote. Probably nowhere remotely close to what Trump said, but some did. And will again in districts where they are loose in enforcement

Trump's critics poo-poo'd the notion that "He says what we are thinking" (much like Rush's listeners used to say). Little do they realize that this is the exact truth. Bluster, hype, lies, and exaggeration aside, Trump does say what we are thinking regarding the important things. That's why we voted for him the first time and will again if he is the candidate. He is still the best hope to return America back to sanity.

The good news is that Republicans still make gains in State elections. My state's legislature just went 'super-majority' Republican and is now able to overcome our Dem governor's veto's. At the same time, paradoxically, sending Democrats to Congress and the White House.
