learning curve errors on withholding forms is a biggie.

OAN has guesstimated that non-resident claimed children of illegals living with granny south of the border, if in fact they exist, previously accounted for refunds in the low billions.

Otherwise Obama's TIN program may have had other bad effects that indirectly increased or otherwise screwed up tax payments. Then comes SALT changes.

The article is probably right. Treasury officials did set this up with a aim of reducing refunds. This is typical of bureaucrats who are out of touch with the concerns of ordinary Americans. The better course of action would have been to not change the withholding tables which would have led to higher refunds. Then people could decide whether they want to use the old withholding tables or new ones.

How many of them are paying a mortgage that exceeds $10 grand in interest payments?
