Transgender Minnesota lawmaker introduces bill removing anti-pedophile language from state's Human Rights Act

I am literally speechless.

Pedophiles need to be killed on sight. I am sorry but as a mother of a daughter it is simply unacceptable such evil should be allowed.

Little by little Democrats are working towards normalizing pedophilia.

St. PAUL, Minn. (TND) — A new bill in the Minnesota Legislature strikes language from the state’s definition of “sexual orientation,” for the purposes of discrimination and other state laws, that excluded sexual attraction to a child as a protected category.

HF 1655 added the term "gender identity" and generated a definition for the term to be used as a guide for related legal matters going forward. The new law also "remov[ed] certain sections in the human rights act that allow for discrimination based on sexual orientation," according to the bill's text.

Let us not care what the bill actually says:

The bill updates outdated language that incorrectly ties pedophilia to a person's sexual orientation. Nothing in the bill changes or weakens any of the crimes against children, or the state's ability to prosecute those who break the law," Minnesota House Judiciary Committee Chair Rep. Jamie Becker-Finn (DFL-Roseville) told TND in a statement. "Of course pedophilia is not a sexual orientation - which is why the language never should have been included in the statutory definition in the first place."

HF1655 is correcting definitions used in law, that might be used in cases involving discrimination in fair housing based on sexual orientation. If passed, it changes law in that state, so that it no longer protect pedophiles as part of sexual orientation, striking it from the Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 363A.03. So, an owner of a house for rent, or apartment, cannot be sued under state law by a pedophile for refusal of rental or lease contract, by a pedophile under discrimination due to sexual orientation.

That's a truly Orwellian spin on this bill.

Here is the exact “outdated” language that is to be struck from the passage prohibiting discrimination on the basis of “sexual orientation”:

"Sexual orientation" does not include a physical or sexual attachment to children by an adult.

So, the author of this bill is stating that “Of course pedophilia is not a sexual orientation - which is why the language never should have been included in the statutory definition in the first place.”, in proposing a change that alters the law in such a way as to allow pedophilia to be included in the definition of “sexual orientation” as a class against which discrimination is prohibited.

There is no honest way to characterize this as anything other than a step toward legitimizing and legalizing pedophilia.

That is the exact opposite of what this bill would do. Language already exists in the law, which explicitly excludes pedophilia for being protected as a “sexual orientation”. This bill would strike that language, leaving the definition of “sexual orientation” as a protected class, wide open to being construed as including pedophilia.

This bill would, in fact, make it possible for pedophiles to sue on the basis of having been discriminator against for their “sexual orientation”, whereas they now cannot.

Well I'm confused. We've got members making two totally different claims about the same bill.
I cheated and posted the actual pdf of HF1655, it is a short read. I did not post "Minnesota Statutes 2022, section363A.03", but that is the search argument to take you straight to it, APmech. It is a longer read. It appears the original language made it's way into that one that became law, until removed by this one. It is not surprising, there would be a move to pull that language out, as there are far more voting property owners (thank goodness), that have an interest in protection, regarding who they allow to be forced to rent or lease to, than there are pedophiles in that state. The statute being revised can be found here. Take look and form your own opinion. I would be interested to see your opinion. Sec. 363A.03 MN Statutes

WRONG
It clearly specifies pedophilia is NOT a sexual orientation. They are trying to delete that part so it broadens the definition of sexual orientation.
You even linked the bill dude. WTF

As the act is now, it states pedophilia is NOT a sexual orientation. They want to remove that to broaden the definition of sexual orientation to include kids.
Read what white 6 posted. It shows what they plan to remove. It has the line going through it where they want to remove pedophilia not being a sexual orientation.

"Sexual orientation" does not include a physical 1.20 or sexual attachment to children by an adult.
The strike through means they want to REMOVE it from the Act as it is written now.

But the statute is in relation to fair housing legalities, so that part is not a protected class if the bill passes, as that language is struck out from the definition used to define a protected class.

Yours is an opinion, I always look at. Am I incorrect that the entire act of HF1655 is defining "sexual orientation" as defined by the previous statute? Can I assume you have read both HF1655 and the statue it revises?
Its not an opinion. Its literally whats happening. The defined a whole bunch of words at the beginning of the Act for clarification. They are trying to remove pedophilia from being exempt from protected classes in this public accommodation law. Definitions dont change throughout the Act dude.
