Military cuts are not the way to go. Non-military government cuts, meaning smaller government is the way to go.

Under the current administration, government size has increased immensely, some say it has even doubled. Bring the government back to the size it was prior to 2008. This will result in significant cuts in spending.

I think we just bomb countries with sanctions these days---no need for a military.

Our most effective weapon is the Obama Drone. The more he drones on and on and one, the more we'll do anything to get him to Shut Up.

Yet the president’s own policies, which have lead to a significant growth in the size and cost of government, may make it difficult, if not impossible, for the United States to grow at the rate necessary to significantly increase employment.

By many measures, the federal government has indeed grown during Obama's tenure. Spending as a share of the economy has gone up. The number of federal employees has risen.

"He didn't do it alone," said Patrick Louis Knudsen, a senior fellow at Heritage. "But he tends to do little to reduce spending. He is taking the size of government to new levels and he's keeping it there."

You know I was reading a story in the ARMY TIMES which speak of the cuts just to military pay. These cuts include but are not limited to:

Commissary spending
BAH rates
And upping insurance costs.
and lowering pay raises to only 1 percent a year

They did an analysis which shows these cuts to an E-5 pay will be on average more than 5,000 a year. The same based on a O-3 ( captain) would be something like 5,700 a year.

All that time which was spent to close the pay gay from Military to Civilian pay is going backwards big time. Some say the gap was closed and the military is making a little more than 2 percent compared to their civilian counterparts., which means once again, there will be a large gap. So the military is getting screwed not only in cuts of equipment but manpower too.

What has not been taken into consideration by this administration is the towns which will be affected by these cuts, loss of jobs and business which the military community supports.

This is going to have a devastating effect not only on the military but civilians too.

From your link:

Much of that increase has come from mandatory spending, including Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid. Those programs have expanded mostly because of the recession, which has prompted more people to apply for Medicaid and Social Security, as well as the growth in people hitting retirement age.

"How much do you lay at the recession's feet versus the president's policies?" said Josh Gordon, policy director at the Concord Coalition, a fiscal policy group. "The aging of the population can't be blamed on the president."

Many safety net programs, such as Medicaid and food stamps, automatically expand during economic downturns. And in the face of prolonged high jobless rates, Congress has authorized extending federal unemployment benefits to a record 99 weeks. The initial extension was passed under President Bush.

The hellfire thing I kinda get, they are useful on Navy helicopters but have been rarely used so if their stock is big enough they might be good since both USN and USMC have shown a lot of interest in APKWS as a better solution for their role. Hellfire worked since was available but a bit overkill for engaging very lightly armored small boats, a SH-60 could engage a lot more targets with APKWS:

Navy weapons program delivers new capability for H-60 helicopters | NAVAIR - U.S. Navy Naval Air Systems Command - Navy and Marine Corps Aviation Research, Development, Acquisition, Test and Evaluation

I don't get the tomahawk reduction though, it is pretty old but has been continuously upgraded and is still the backbone of our long range strike capabilities. We have JASSM but obviously that requires aircraft to launch it.
