Is Homan on tape saying, "Thank you for this bag containing fifty thousand dollars in small bills. I understand that it is a bribe in return for which I must do your nefarious bidding if I am selected for a senior position in any future Trump administration?"

We don't even know if there is a tape. Nobody willing to be named says it exists. We do know that James Comey was rightly excoriated by both sides when he talked about evidence against people not indicted.

If he had said something like, "I took the money, as part of my own investigation of bribery," as the only GOP congressman caught in ABSCAM said, you'd have an argument.

But he gave a flat denial, something that would be very simple to refute if there is a tape. Okay "put to rest" was hyperbole, but with that flat denial, the ball is in the court of those who claim he is guilty of something.
