Yeah um ... I guess they don't realize that even after the ceasefire there's not going to be any cease-fire. This is about what they're good for anyway and pretty much what they've always been good for showing up to the fire to shovel the ashes and being absent during the active phase. Skin in the game is something these guys don't know very much about just yet.
But they will.

The question of who will control the Strait has yet to be decided. Even a non-nuclear Iran could still be a threat.

Oh yes absolutely and as of now they are still very much nuclear....the yellow cake is still intact. However the current regime will not EVER stop trying to PAY BACK what has just happened to them. They have to be replaced...nothing else will suffice at this point and frankly we were already there.

I would make it known in no uncertain terms that all of Europe can count on the USA not going to their aid, for anything.

Let Russia have them.

Iran has attacked a U.S. military base in the Indian Ocean, more than 4,000 km awayโ€ฆ

This is very bad news for Europe, including Ukraine, which is now within range of Iranian missiles...

Increasingly EU countries plus Team GB prefer friends that they can trust and do not have the US reputation for violence and dishonesty .
Regardless , why invest time and money in a hopelessly bankrupt operator ?

Iran may need to be broken up into smaller parts (as Iraq should have been). These countries have no capacity for democratic self-government. We need to ensure that these parts can't threaten other countries or world commerce.

The US may have to assume de facto ownership of the Persian Gulf and charge compensatory fees for commercial passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

The EU needs to learn how to stand on their own. The Best thing they can do for a more peaceful future is dismantle NATO...

Unfortunately NATO still lives....
It's the only reason the Ukraine conflict
Continues...once it is shuttered that miserable war will end.

Done nothing?

Yes, we have noticed.

What "friends?"

Care to explain?
Yeah....if there was any doubt that NATO was a paper tiger with a high salary for nothing ...I think that has finally been put to rest
