Today was a very bad day....

I thought we would get "saved" by the government work we do for numerous county offices. But they have all closed, people there are still working but they are using nothing. One saving grace is counties are ordering 100,000's of election forms/envelopes preparing for mail in only voting. But that will not sustain us. Banks are giving us decent business, needing more drive thru envelopes. But pretty much no one is ordering marketing materials which is the cream of the business.

I would lay them off and they will get unemployment, unstead of halving their hours.

Again, you can draw unemployment while employed if your hours are dropped.

Don't listen to Penelope, first and foremost. This is a very difficult time but it is manageable. Treatments are already out and hopefully will be mass produced quickly and shortly.

Things will get worse before they get better. Unfortunately, and I hate being the voice of doom, the world we knew it is over. Like the new format here, we will have to get used to the worlds new format. I hope things go well for you, though. And your employees.

Sorry to hear this. I hope this virus is taken out quickly and government stimulates the economy and assists those businesses impacted. The economy was going well, nobody should lose their livelihoods and businesses because of something like this beyond their control, especially considering how this all came about.

People have been losing their livelihoods, businesses, insurance, and everything else they had because of things beyond their control for a long time. Until now, someone always managed to claim it was their own damn fault. I hope this recently found concern for people instead of corporations lasts more than a few weeks.

.... that our business will not survive very many at all.
On average we get between 25 orders on a REALLY slow day to over 50 on a good day.
Last thursday we got 12
Friday - 10
Today - 1.... yeah 1.
I will either have to lay off half the employees or half everyone's hours. Leaning towards halving hours.
And even that will only sustain us for a few weeks at this rate.

And then the Governor gives a stay at home order.
We're fucked. And Washington can't get their heads out of their asses long enough to work together and pass a bill. Too fucking scared the other party will get the credit.
I know a lot, and i mean a LOT of business owners and all day today is panic and mayhem. It is all I did today was deal with "I don't know what to do at this point..."

I'm in the same boat as you. Nancy Pelosi (net worth 140 million) is holding up potential help to small businesses like ours by playing to the base who view a "corporation" as something evil.

Meanwhile, public employees are being paid to not work right now.

The only thing definitive is unemployment ins. If he doesn't have work enough for all his employees laying some off would better for them instead of half time work depending on what he pays them. When works picks back up, then hire them back. But your right, don't listen to me, I don't know how many hours they works or anything about his business.

Good luck to you.

Three people in our family have been adversely effected, too.

Damn, you ignorant leftist children annoy me with your reflexive hatred of corporations. There are MILLIONS of corporations in the country, the majority of which being small businesspeople.

I have a corporation. THe act of incorporating in the state of Oregon allows me to do business legally, and separate by business life from my private life.

I have six employees and we are ALL fucked right now because leftists like you are closing us down and then grandstanding in congress refusing to help "corporations".

Do you want one person to have complete control of who gets all that money, and who doesn't?

Corporations are not people. Would you have incorporated if you weren't able to shift much of that corporate money into your own pocket in a way that a normal, unincorporated person can't. The country is made up of citizens, not companies. We should only help corporations/businesses if that help ultimately ends up in the pockets of the people.

Uh...what?
It depends. You realize that "corporations" are in many sizes and forms? We are an LLC of 8 employees. OBVIOUSLY most of the revenue we earn goes into the "pockets of the people". I pay myself obviously, but my earnings are nowhere near as much as all 7 employees added together. Not.even.close.
And then there are global corporations where as much as 75% of the compensation goes to the top 20% of the company.
Big difference between the two.
The problem, as I see Dogmaphobe saying, is Democrats are using the word corporation as a general evil word that includes small businesses.

Apply for the SBA loans. Congress will approve a package today or tomorrow and that "loan" is forgiven if you don't lay off employees and essentially becomes a grant. Hang in there.
So then we've a Gub'Mit that locks down a biz, then grants them a loan to keep their employees from the unemployment line

excuse me if that don't quite add up

Was the 5 year Russia hoax really worth it now? How about the 6 month fake Schiff/ Pelosi impeachment.

Could our prez have focused on better things than have the media shove these fake scandals up his ass every day.

History will reveal this, the truth.

Reality sux. It hasn't even started yet. Chill and eat less. Shit in the bushes to conserve paper

LOL

Look how fast conservatives abandon their core beliefs and standards in favor of reaching out for socialist government handouts. :lmao:

This is why I keep saying we are shooting ourselves in the leg to kill a mosquito. I'm sorry but even the worst case scenario of Italy we are talking one case of China virus per thousand Italians. This is not the Black Plague, this is not the Spanish Flu. Impose restrictions in hot spots but these lockdowns are killing our small businesses and a government handout isn't going to help that.

One NYc restaurant owner cried as he laid off his entire staff
He let em raid and empty the walk in and take whatever they wanted home.

What could he do ..

Ya gotta hang in there ...they're gonna fast track small business loans once the dems stop trying to hurt the american public for no good reason

Do what you have to do.

Anything you do won't be easy and that is the trial of a business owner (just one of many).

I have the utmost respect for you guys. You follow a passion and deal with a lot of bullshit.

If you tried, you did the best you could. Don't take it home with you if you can avoid it.
