A key conviction tied to the plot to abduct Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer just got tossed by a state appeals court. A three-judge panel on Tuesday vacated the domestic terrorism-related convictions of Joseph Morrison, ruling that jurors in his case were misinstructed and that prosecutors leaned on a misreading of Michigan's antiterrorism law, per the New York Times. Morrison, linked by prosecutors to the Wolverine Watchmen militia and sentenced to four to 20 years behind bars, was found guilty of providing material support for an act of terrorism and illegal gang membership.
The court said the state wrongly used kidnapping as the underlying "violent felony" for the terrorism charge, noting that kidnapping doesn't meet that definition under Michigan law, undermining the verdict. Per the Detroit News, the state law on kidnapping originally included language that indicated someone who was kidnapped had been "forcibly or secretly" taken. In 2006, the legislation was amended to strip any references to force. Therefore, "because the 'use, attempted use, or threatened use of physical force' is not an element of kidnapping, kidnapping is not a 'violent felony' falling within the definition of an 'act of terrorism,'" the judges wrote in their Tuesday ruling.

Did the FBI set these guys up?

The FBI charged five men in a plot to attack Trump's White House UFC party. The twist: they're far-right extremists who, according to prosecutors, wanted Trump punished for covering up the Epstein files.

According to the charging documents, the group planned to fly explosive-laden drones over the June 14 event on the White House South Lawn to stampede the crowd, then have snipers pick off "high value targets" as people fled.
Prosecutors say the target list included Trump himself, JD Vance, Elon Musk, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Senator Marsha Blackburn, whom one defendant flagged over her devotion to the pro-Israel lobby.
So who are the men charged in this plot? Not antifa. Not the left. According to the filings, they marinated in exactly the conspiracy sludge the right has been pumping out for years.
One of them, 32-year-old Michael Thomas, allegedly told the FBI he believes the government is run by an elite cabal that "sacrifices and consumes infants," that this cabal was "deeply involved with Jeffrey Epstein," and that Trump is now protecting them.
He reportedly blames Jewish people and Israel for the war with Iran. The 19-year-old accused of helping draw up the target list, Tycen Proper, had started posting antisemitic content online after falling in with the group, according to his own family.

FBI Director Kash Patel sprinted to take a victory lap, bragging online that his bureau "stopped cold" a planned attack. He did almost nothing. The plot unraveled because one suspect's own mother got scared and called the police on her son after he began stockpiling weapons.

The Secret Service was reportedly furious that Patel ran his mouth while the case was still sealed and more suspects were still at large. One official's response to him: "Don't choke on your own smoke."

The right spent a decade convincing people a satanic cabal runs the world and that Trump alone would expose it. Then Trump buried the Epstein files. And some of the monsters they built came looking for him.
