Tim Walz - The actual story is worse - he Accepted the position of Command Sgt Major. There were responsibilities that went along with that.

I also read that Walz lied about his rank for a while. And he has.

His rank of Command Sergeant Major was conditional, he failed to meet the conditions.

Walz “failed to complete the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy,” the officers continued:

time to move on.webp

NO, stupid, I'm pointing out that he has had hearing issues related to his service in the Field Artillery.

Except he was never "demoted".

His pay grade was E-8
His rank was Master Sergeant
His posting was Command Sergeant Major (Normally held by an E-9)

You can serve in a position up to two grades below the required rank for a position. For instance, I was a Supply NCO with my unit, normally an E-6 posting, but I got the job when I was an E-4 and then and E-5 before finally getting promoted to E-6.

Normally, you have to complete the Sergeant Major's Academy to get the rank of E-9, but you can serve in a position with a lower rank.
