FAA targeting Verizon contract in favor of Musk’s Starlink, sources say

The Federal Aviation Administration is close to canceling a $2.4 billion contract to overhaul a communications system that serves as the backbone of the nation’s air traffic control system and awarding the work to Elon Musk’s Starlink, according to two people briefed on the plans.

The move to cancel a major contract in favor of a venture led by Musk — who is leading President Donald Trump’s disruptive overhaul of the federal government through the U.S. DOGE Service — would represent a significant test of protections against conflicts of interest in government projects. It would be an especially extraordinary step for the typically cautious FAA, whose systems are vital to the safety of millions of air travelers every day.

This has to be satire, right? I mean, c'mon man. The $20B in contracts Musk's companies already get from the federal government represent an unparalleled, massive conflict of interest. Adding another $2.4B is like proclaiming, "yes, we are corrupt, whatcha going to do about it?"

If Starlink has a competitive edge in terms of technology, so be it. But the appearance of impropriety calls for Elon to step down from his temporary position. Especially considering he has already exceeded his legal authority given to special government employees.
Well it seems the 'Special' Employee is even more 'Special'...

BTW, Did Musk paid about $250m into Trump's Campaign?

And none of this is bribery???????

Unfortunately, the "appearance of impropriety" is simply no longer a standard. What Musk is doing absolutely pales in comparison with what Trump has gotten away with, what Justices Thomas & Alito have gotten away with, what Trump's insurrectionists have gotten away with, on and on.

The Trump years have seen the elimination of all standards of behavior, and Musk can just surf along behind that.
Trump is actually small money... He as corrupt as fuck but is clueless...

Even Jarad knew how to leverage his position better cash...

Trump thought he was the top dog a few weeks ago when he wrangled $25 million out of Zuckerberg...

Elon just went 'Hold my beer...', Daddy will show you how it is done..

Better not let these fucks talk to Putin... He has it on an industrial scale, he doesn't do his own deals... He just takes off the top on all deals and everyone pays.. IF trump figured out that America is fucked... Now saying that Trump is shit stain in corruption ability compared to Putin, but he tries hard..

Talk about ROI. He paid pocket change (for him) to become the most powerful, unelected, executive branch official in US history.

Trump/Putin is a pretty interesting dynamic. Putin is a hero to Trump, but Trump would fuck him over at the first chance.

They run their countries the same way, like Mafia families. But Trump has far more resources at his disposal, and now he has his oligarchs, who are far more powerful than Putin's.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Trump stab Putin in the back, even as cunning as Putin is. He's in the comparitive position of weakness right now.

Two thugs who don't give a shit about anyone but themselves.

A belief you hold despite an inability to factually refute anything they report.

BTW, what you said is music to trump's, and Murdoch's ears. They have worked very hard to get people like you to trust liars like them.

Nope, I read that biased garbage. I see no evidence of wrongdoing.

Let's see the American people will have to buy out the contract of Verizon. I'm sure elon the fairy will claim he saved the American people a billion dollars
Contract will be canceled, without loss to the taxpayers, because Verizon couldn't meet the requirements of the contract.

Dummy.

You would respect the grift but everyone is so idiotic...

The bright ones are deeply corrupt, they know what they are doing and looking after number one is it...

And then there are the weak and idiots too...

All too cringy..

Dummy.

Really! In order to cancel an existing contract there has to be a clause in it saying it can be cancelled without notice. No one does that with government contracts.

They all do.

You are wallowing in ignorance.

As usual.

If there is a problem with the contract with Verizon, or if Verizon has demonstrated an inability to perform as well as the FAA requires, then this story doesn’t implicate conflict of interest in any way.

The SEC has just halted an investigation in to a Chinese national who invested millions in to trump's crypto biz. You can't make this stuff up.
