This site the past few weeks has gotten increasingly laggy.

I was watching for a while, we had somewhere around 6500 'guests' and around 100 or so members. After the fix, guests dropped off to around 2500 guests. It seemed ok for a while now it's pretty much back the way it was before the fix.

it's showing around 2800 guests at the moment. I think between AI scouring websites, news media probably does too to see whats trending, is whats killing this place.
Right now:

Total: 3,459 (members: 127, guests: 3,332)

The lag is absolutely horrible this morning

I'm glad someone brought it back up. A week ago for a while, I thought the issue was addressed after an admin did something in the background to stop server attacks, and things seemed to get a bit better, then worse, and now, we are right back to this site freezing up all the time.

For a while I thought maybe it was my older version of Firefox, but it can't be that because one minute this site operates perfectly, then a second later, it hangs up and you cannot get any response to open alerts, post messages, change pages, etc., and it often takes up to a minute or more to just respond to basic requests.

Right now:
Total: 3,459 (members: 127, guests: 3,332)

Well, we have always had between 50-150 members on board at any given time and thousands of "guests," so I doubt that is the cause unless some guest now is malicious.

We've been making additional changes to block more bots and adding additional content to robots.txt for the bots that respect it.

That with additional guest page caching and I think the site has sped up and you'll notice the number of guests are down. The guests are actually still the same but are no longer counted if they access a guest page that has been cached which is a significant amount and thusly reduces the appearance of guests online.

We've extracted all we can from this server it appears and that we may have to upgrade to newer, faster and more expensive hardware :(

Thank you....👍

Sporadic. Varies from minute to minute. It goes from working perfectly to the next second making you sit there for a minute or more just waiting to post a message, open the Alerts box to see messages, or even to just 'like' someone.

But yes, like you said, the reported number of visitors and bots appears to have dropped in half or more.

It's getting worse for me. I sometimes have to wait 10-15 seconds to post anything or even quote in a reply.

I can't find any slowness on the server. All the metrics look good.... the load is fine, there are no slow queries in the log.

I was ready to blame my own computer until I saw many other people having the same problem. Has Xenforo or anything changed software recently that might have a compatibility problem with a lot of browsers out there running older software versions? Yet, often, if it were a browser problem, why would the browser/webpage loading vary greatly often working perfectly fine?

I still experience random issues. I'll go to post something and it'll hang for 30 to 60 seconds. Sometimes I'll have to refresh the page in order to see whether or not the changes took place.

I noticed it on Android back in May at my cabin, shrugged it off as being 5 miles from the tower. Then it happened at home.

Ive had no issues today so far. I usually have several instances of load times so long i go away and come back later, or shut the browser and reopen which doesnt always work.

Guarantee I get an issue now that I said I havent had any today. :)
