This site the past few weeks has gotten increasingly laggy.

Your web site is widely known by its usership to be more relaxed than most of the other similar platforms.

As a consequence you've ended end up with a steady migration of everyone elses rejects/banned members who routinely demonstrate why they were rejected by other similar platforms and they have become very, very comfortable carrying thelselves in the same way here, to the point that any expectation of civilized, relevant, meaningful dialogue is near impossible.

It's that brand of juvenile, Mickey Mousery stuff that has effectively reduced the place to what really can be described as a haven for committed purveyors of flotsam and jetsam and, as you mentioned, a steady and very predictable flow of spammy content served up for no other reason than to deter and impede any expectation of relevant, adult dialogue.

That's not necessarily true. I post regularly on another forum, and come to this one as a newbie every once in awhile, and I've no complaints. Maybe you should use your forum software and block what you don't want to read, or use your personal filters and scroll on by. IMHO, it's the only way to survive today's online very divisive political climate. Take what you can and leave the rest behind.

One last thing..

All of these closed threads because people can't/ won't adhere to the thread posting rules.

These non-cmpliant threads should be not only closed, but deleted.

I've mentioned this many, many times.

The humorous thing about that is that some of the previously mentioned demographic have learned from experience that they can post a thread and not adhere to the rules as a matter of strategy and know fully well that it will only be closed rather than deleted.

That's why the weasels do it so routinely.

Which effectively just amounts to yet another ''Shut up! Listen!'' type of thread since the many closed threads remain but simply cannot be responded to.

Usually some dumb ten second tiktok video or something like that to serve as some kind of billboard. Spam basically, which is p

ermitted to remain, even though dialogue is not possible once closed.

That's he mindset you're dealing with with those tyes of people.

It's a laughable, pathetic strategy, mainly because it is a strategy, and that just goes to show how the topical content has eroded over time, as well as by what mechanism, but that's a lot of wasted server room, too.
Honestly, after reading a few of your complaints to this thread, maybe it's you. Find a new forum. Take a break. That's how I found this one when my regular forum became too imbalanced for my liking. I sincerely mean my words to you in good faith. I've complained about the moderation on a forum before. You won't get anywhere when the majority of the forum agrees with how they do it.

A few posts is all one needs to understand his resolve since an easy read is an easy read.

But that could easily be his USMB raison d'etre. :dunno:

Not wise to correlate legitimate observations and common knowledge with ''complaints.''

Any actual complaints that I would or may have, you people wouldn't ever know about em in the GP.

And any ''complaints'' that I've had on here, though very few and far between, I tend to bring the entire maude team into the conversation in private. Which they can vouch for that fact if they're so led to do so. I'm not selective in that regard so as to only communicate with those whom I think will be more inviting to receiving my perspectives than others.

And sock acounts, now that I'm reminded of them.

I imagine there are a lot of those around here taking up space. Though I do not know how to resolve that given the practical use of VPNs these days.

But I close that login box that pops up on my screen out and refresh the page and I'm still logged in.

It's weird.

Well, there are certainly many elements which contribute to lazy servers. I would surmise it to be practical to list them as much as possible.

But your snide, very predictable and opportunist remark does remind me of current goings-on in terms of the Internet, and out of genune curiosity, and particularly given that you've presented yourself to be a retired professional in the field, do you think stuff like this could also contribute to poor web site performance?

Your wisdom with regard to openly stated operations like this is certainly appreciated.

It's not wisdom that predicates my discount of paranoa in others, just realisim.

You remind yourself.

Yes, no doubt.

There's hardly any members around in this forum.

So, be careful that the shadow doesn't get you... in the end.

Seems like a valid question in scope, if we're being sincere.

Particularly given that this sort of thing is being openly stated as going operational.

I'd say it's certainly interesting timing at the very least.

And, incidentally, other, more popular and more frequented platforms are acting against similar threats to protect themselves from having their servers atacked...
