Yes, all in the name of 'climate change' / 'global warming', Paris Accord.
!2 yr old students marching in the streets, young girls shown on tv crying because they felt they had no future because of CO2 emissions. Seemingly brainwashed by someone. Seemingly crying to the stage of possible suicide. Talk radio hosts and listeners/newspaper commenters/tv hosts and their audiences went into meltdown in protest at the situation of those children.
"How come, on a school day, are children in the city protesting 'climate change' with the approval and permission from their schools?" was one question being asked.

Yes, refineries closed...coal-fired and gas-fired power stations closed, only a handful left open.

No refineries, no coal-fired anything..."the air is cleaner, no carbon emissions. The globe is safer".
Left/far left federal and state govts seem to demonising fossil fuels.

It's not that bad,
Serious problem though.

The problem is storage. Not enough fuel stored around the nation in case of emergencies.
Conservative govts federal and state warned about it long ago.

Australia exports $1billion of gas [LNG] to Singapore/Asia etc every year.
In return it imports refined fuels including diesel.
Also imports fertilizers.

All very nice until the supply of oil from the ME stops.

States are already acting to ensure they have adequate refining and storage of fuel for the future, bypassing the federal govt.

It is about global warming /climate change...and the Far Left Federal govt's rush to renewables.
Conservative leader at last federal election said "sensible transition to renewables"/nuclear.
Far Leftist govt said "renewables now", "electric vehicles now", and the Conservative Leader was voted out of his own electorate and therefor out of parliament.
Far Leftist govt won the election in a landslide.
Most voters got free stuff of some kind.
"3 days per week free [fed govt paid] childcare for every child, no means tests, everyone gets it."
"Students' loan debt reduced by 20%".

Had a free trade agreement with USA, in America's favour by $28 billion per annum.
President Trump then basically ripped it up and slapped on tariffs.
He won't guarantee the ANZUS alliance still exists.
He won't guarantee the the AUKUS nuclear subs agreement still exists.
Then wonders why Australia is not very keen on sending ships, war planes and troops to the Iran war.
