I'd like Trump fans to try something different for a change. Rather than reflexively dismissing the following story as fake news, or deep state nonsense, or any of the means by which you routinely dismiss negative stories on Trump, consider the possibility it is true. That the guy making the allegations is not lying. That like so many other people who directly or indirectly came in to Trump's orbit who then reported corruption, his motivation is not to "get Trump." But rather to put the truth out there so people can learn about it.

Senate to Investigate Charge That Trump Meddled in Prosecutor’s Office

The Senate Judiciary Committee will investigate allegations that the Justice Department under President Donald J. Trump sought to use the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan to support Mr. Trump politically and pursue his critics, the committee’s chairman said on Monday.

In one case, Mr. Berman describes how Mr. Barr, after taking office in February 2019, suggested that the conviction of Michael D. Cohen, Mr. Trump’s former lawyer, for violating campaign finance laws be reversed. Mr. Barr also sought to stop related investigations into possible campaign finance violations, the book says.

A Southern District official later persuaded Mr. Barr that there was no basis to drop any charges against Mr. Cohen and that the investigations should be completed, the book says. The inquiry ended without additional charges being filed.

In another case, Mr. Berman writes that department officials pressured the Southern District to prosecute the former secretary of state John Kerry, and when Mr. Berman’s office investigated and declined to bring charges, the department sent the matter to another U.S. attorney’s office, which also declined to prosecute.

In yet another episode, Mr. Berman writes that in September 2018, a department official called Mr. Berman’s deputy two months before the November midterms. After citing the recent prosecutions of two prominent Trump loyalists, the official said the office, which had been investigating Gregory B. Craig, a powerful Democratic lawyer, should charge him — and do so by Election Day. “It’s time for you guys to even things out,” the official, Edward O’Callaghan, the principal associate deputy attorney general, told Mr. Berman’s deputy, according to the book.

Is it possible that all the dozens of people who have called out Trump for nefarious actions ARE NOT part of some cabal but rather solid citizens looking out for the interests of the country?

Substantiating Berman's allegation that Gregory Craig was targeted for political reasons at Trump's request is the following. Once Berman refused to bring charges against Craig due to his belief Craig was innocent after investigating the matter, Billy the Bagman found someone willing to indict Craig in DC.

WashingtonCNN —
A federal grand jury on Thursday indicted Greg Craig, a prominent Democratic attorney who worked for two presidents, charging him with making false statements and concealing material information in connection with work he performed for Ukraine in a case stemming from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Craig, 74, is the highest-profile Democrat to be indicted in a matter connected to Mueller’s work, which resulted in charges against numerous Republicans tied to President Donald Trump.

The case, which is being handled by the US Attorney’s office for the District of Columbia in association with the Justice Department’s national security division, is likely to bring renewed attention to the Justice Department’s application of a once-obscure law applying to unregistered foreign agents, the Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA.

It took 5 hours for the jury to acquit Craig.

Former Obama White House counsel Greg Craig found not guilty in Mueller spinoff case

Greg Craig, who served as White House counsel early in President Barack Obama’s administration, was found not guilty by a Washington, DC, jury Wednesday after a trial stemming from the Mueller investigation.

Craig had been charged with making false statements in a Justice Department inquiry into whether his law firm Skadden Arps should have registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) because of its work for the Ukrainian government.

His prosecution was spun off from former special counsel Robert Mueller’s extensive investigation of Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chair who came under scrutiny in the Russia investigation.

Craig’s trial, which lasted about three weeks, boiled down to the question of whether, back in 2013 and 2014, he tried to mislead the Justice Department about what, exactly, he did for Ukraine, in hopes that DOJ would conclude he didn’t have to register as a foreign agent.

Poor, poor Trump, everybody is just picking on him..
Justice Department pressured former US attorney to bring cases against Trump enemies, Geoffrey Berman says

Berman described a tenure under Attorney Generals Jeff Sessions and Bill Barr and acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker rife with politics and constant interference, pressuring him to remove references to Individual-1, aka Donald Trump, in the case against Michael Cohen, the president's former lawyer.

"On the eve of Cohen's guilty plea, main Justice tried to get our office to remove any reference to Individual-1, who was President Trump. They were unsuccessful in that venture. And they were unsuccessful in every attempt to politically interfere with our office. We held the line in every instance," Berman told ABC's "Good Morning America."

Berman also claimed that DOJ officials told him to open an investigation into ex-secretary of state John Kerry, whom Trump had repeatedly attacked via Twitter, claiming Kerry was secretly trying to preserve the Iran nuclear accord that the then-president had blown up.

Additionally, Barr unsuccessfully attempted to reverse Cohen’s conviction on campaign finance law violations, according to Berman.

In his letter on Monday, Durbin asked Garland to turn over DOJ documents on requests and communications related to Craig, Kerry and Cohen. The senator gave Garland a deadline of no later than Oct. 3.

Durbin also noted the chaos surrounding Berman’s ouster in the summer of 2020, when Barr had put out a statement claiming Berman had resigned, only for the then-prosecutor to defiantly announce he had “no intention” of resigning. Then Trump ousted Berman–though he bizarrely tried to claim he had nothing to do with the firing.

Why in hell do blue people in blue areas watch others be attacked and killed and do nothing? This is the argument you are coming from. Kill each other. Leave the rest of us alone.

That was such a weak attempt to derail the thread I can't believe your heart was really in it.

My fellow progressives need to watch this. Go to.......

I would like folk to consider the possibility that you, berg80, have tortured and murdered a number of women, and that you continue, every so often, to do so.

OK, so I admit that I have no evidence, no basis on which to make such an accusation, but still, why should such a possibility simply be dismissed. Shouldn't the possibility be considered that it is true?

So serious is this accusation, that if there is any possibility that it might be true, shouldn't ever effort be made to investigate it, no matter what adverse impacts such an investigation might have on you and on anyone associated with you?

Since before he even took office, and now, more than a year and a half after he left office, the Democraps have been making all manner of bizarre and extreme accusations against Trump, an have weaponized the justice system to harass him and his associates, and for all their efforts, they have yet to prove a single instance of actual wrongdoing.

We now have credible reports that just in the last week, the FBI has conducted completely unjustifiable raids against at least thirty-five, and perhaps as many as fifty or more assorted people, associated with Trump. The DOJ has clearly and undeniably been weaponized into a tool by the current administration, to harass and suppress political opponents.

THAT is what corrupting the DOJ looks like.

Only a MAGAnut could equate an innocuous comment made by Holder with the extremely disturbing evidence Trump did things like pressure the SDNY to remove references to him in the documents relating to M. Cohen's campaign finance crime. The one for which Trump was a co-conspirator. The one Cohen committed at Trump's direction.

Trump isn't being accused of being a mass murderer. He's being accused of the same sorts of things many others have accurately accused him of doing. Perhaps it would be helpful if you considered the preponderance of evidence, given that so many people have reported similar, corrupt behavior. I'm not proposing that all allegations are 100% accurate. Only that as a whole they become more believable because of the volume of them coming from credible sources in a position to know of what they speak.

Actually that's what a DOJ investigating an insurrection, and use of forged / falsified documents to influence an election.

You said that the 2020 election was filled with fraud. Well now the DOJ is investigating that fraud.

A corrupt DOJ is like the one we currently have that goes rounding up several members of the opposing party to put up in front of kangaroo investigations and courts.

Let me remind you of all the folks who already confessed to the January 6th insurrection, and how this is from the National Archives receiving forged election certifications.

Putting your ridiculous, completely unsubstantiated accusation aside, this is what corruption looks like.

Berman wrote that the Justice Department asked him to "even things out" by prosecuting a Democrat after his office successfully prosecuted former Republican Congressman Chris Collins.

"The Justice Department told us, 'Hey, you have just indicted two allies of the president, Chris Collins, who is a Republican congressman from upstate New York, and Michael Cohen, who was the president's lawyer and fixer, and it's time for you guys to even things out and indict a Democrat before the midterm election,'" Berman said. "It was something we never heard or seen before."

LOL. Yeah, Putin's good at getting people to confess.

Exactly. This was not about justice. Not about a credible case to prosecute.

It was about “evening things out “ politically after two GOP crooks were prosecuted

That’s Billy Barr.

That’s Trump

So, you deny the DOJ and the Jan 6th House Committee are rounding up a bunch of people from the opposing political party? Really?
