Version one: “I deserve welfare! I shouldn’t have to have a job! Working is too hard!”
Version two: “I deserve to make what a CEO makes! People should all get paid the same! That’s what fair!”
Version three: “I’m special! My parents told me so! Everyone gets a trophy! That’s what’s fair!”
Now this isn’t to say these people don’t exist. it’s just that they are used as cookie cutter mental shortcuts in the minds of republicans. They widely exaggerate how common these individuals are and how they vote. Republicans like to believe the entire Leftwing is like this for two reasons:
1) It gives them a false sense of manliness and toughness. Everyone but republicans are leeches because of course they are. It comes from a place of insecurity generalizing liberals in this way. What a hard on they get saying “get a job!” at a subgroup That is mostly already employed.
2) It makes it easy to dismiss anything the leftwing has to say on an issue. Republicans struggle the most with cognitive dissonance. They refuse to believe anything that doesn’t already coddle their Fox News worldview.
The reality, of course, is that just as many self-identified conservatives are unemployed. I’m willing to bet plenty of them have a retarded sense of entitlement. Hell, liberals are more likely to have a degree in higher education and this caricature still persists.
