They're not worried about competence, or intelligence, or who he picks, or even common decency. As we can see.
This is about how he makes them feel.
They feel strong but protected. High priorities, I guess. The weird thing is, the guy who makes them feel strong is incredibly needy and sensitive, and the guy who makes them feel protected doesn't give two shits about them, outside of their vote and their money.

Many give that appearance, but it probably only applies to less than half of them. No idea how many but after his disastrous dismantling of government and his blanket pardons of criminals, some surely have buyers remorse, but most are privately pretending some of these things are not happening.
They are in denial, but we both know the demands of being in denial are going to increase in the coming years. They will suffer in silence, ignoring reality they see every day. We know this, and they will someday. We all have to wonder, will it be too late when they finally wake up? Time will tell.
