What about Arlington house and property that was stolen from Robert Lee?
What about it? The biggest mistake they made was not hanging Lee and all the other traitors after the war, exiling their families from the country and demonizing them in the history books.
The theft of the land is bad no matter who owned it, then cut down a forest of large Oak trees to build a cemetery of civil war then later notable people, a waste of fine land. I visited the land and walked through the home. Better to have left it alone instead and sort it out after the war ended, then have him sell it to someone who doesn't support or keep slavery on it.
General Grant was the one who paroled Lee for a reason that you have yet to learn. The parole was a brilliant idea on Grant's part as it prevented a lot of post war problems.
Heck the Southerners and too many of the Northerners whitewashed Grant to elevate Lee in the history books. Lee who should have sat out of the war since he should have known that slavery was an abomination and fighting to keep slavery under the guise of states rights is no honor at all. Lee's allegiance to Virginia was stupid as hell, since the "cause" was to support a dying concept of slavery, a contradiction to the 1776 declaration of independence, then fight in 1861 to keep blacks people in slavery.
