I don't think thatched roofs, even if only decorative, are the best idea, for reasons like this. This was a nice resort, a Wyndham resort.



 
I am positive they lacked the infrastructure to support fighting a fire of that size locally.
That's the problem with running a business in those locales. You can't bribe a fire.
 
Thatch roofs burn....Who would have thought right?

Thatched roofs had been largely illegal in the City of London since 1212 following an earlier devastating fire, so most homes within the city had clay tile roofs thereafter.
