Things going up in price at the grocery store

Nope - you are not this dumb.
So the only explanation for your short sided post is you blind yourself with Trump hatred to such an extent, you are good with saying something so simple minded and short sided.

And, I already know, when you read this, your brain will do the same thing.
Fuck off

All these years we could have been building up our own industries, but someone decided we would be better off importing everything, and here we are
I don't think the decision was made to import everything. I think uninformed employees like initforme and to a large extent, unions, made conditions such that the American worker could not compete on the world market. So businesses made the decision to move their operations to countries that were hungry to compete for those dollars. Sucks for us, but maybe these tariffs will make Americans more competitive.

Damn, you were killin it with the paychecks!!!!
But, were you ex-military before you got that job?
If so, thats why you got the big bucks.
The job required a high school diploma. They hired me because I was a licensed health and life insurance agent. I knew more than the people who ran the department which were former telephone operators displaced by technology. They later made me an instructor and subject matter expert. Other people were let go immediately after open enrollment was over. I stayed 16 months and left to become a teacher. My pay raise was $2.00 an hour after that, so I wound up at slightly less than $12.00.

Yep, taxes and regulations. The companies moved to where they could make more profit, something the dems hate. Guess what happens? Those companies end up with a different tax structure so they don't pay as much US taxes...and thus not "paying their fair share"

We need to make it where business WANT to operate inside the US

"paying their fair share"
TBH, I think that is a cop out. Employers provide jobs with incomes that provide taxes for the country in addition to the higher standard of living that the wages provide. If you have good, profitable businesses--the standard of living usually follows. Businesses that don't contribute to their economy usually are located in blue shitholes thus homelessness, crime and public assistance which is a drain on the taxpayer.

Right, but if you operate a factory in another country, and you pay taxes there, you get a tax credit here in the US. So they end up paying less taxes into our economy.

IDK. If that is the case, tariffs should make up for the shortfall. In any case, if these moves are successful at forcing those who have off shored to return, it is a win. The US would return to a producing nation instead of a nation of burger flippers for burger flippers.

Trump’s Tariffs By The Numbers

$3.2 billion: Market gains for bug-out bags

29: Turnips to be substituted into average American’s weekly diet

1 in 3: Americans currently screaming “SELL! SELL!” into cell phone

9: Quantity of eggs 401(k) worth now

1, 2, 3, 4: Numbers chanted by Trump before saying, “I declare a trade war!”

5: Days until you have to start making own soap

80%: Increase in Oliver Twist adaptations set in present day

48: Hours Youngstown, OH has been given to get a thriving banana industry up and running

Nope. Corporate taxes are at historic lows. They need to go up to normal levels.
It’s at 21 percent, which I agree isn’t the highest but avg, Trump lowered it to make it more comparable

Raising the rate would just make cost higher, it should be zero, we should only use tariffs on businesses to encourage them to buy American

Aside from a lot of BS the media still perpitrates and spews out, the ONLY things going up in price are items manufactured OUTSIDE of this country. If you buy a lot of wine from Italy or France, yeah.....you're going to pay more. If you buy wine produced INSIDE the USA, no tarriffs involved.

Sure, theres going to be corrupt companies taking advantage of this and jacking up their already price gouging prices even more..........but its YOU, THE CONSUMER that can stop that!!! Just LEAVE IT ON THE SHELF! Stop dumping your wallets into these corrupt companies and start leaving their products on the shelves for other brands that aren't price gouging their customers.

Past consumer projects such as changing brand companies that don't price gouge, or just not buying the product any more, has shown that just after only 3 months, that these companies being "left on the shelf" get the picture and drop prices.

If you don't like the price tag, then DON'T BUY IT!!! That simple.

Trump fighting with China might affect a lot of companies, but are these companies that we REALLY need the Chinese junk they sell?
No. Theres plenty of other options.

Could it be a rough ride for us? Sure it could..........just like the last 4 years of HARD CORE PRICE GOUGING has been a detrement to all of us........but this time, we have a president that is working his business magic to make things BETTER for us, not WORSE!!!

Yea but very little is made inside the country. And what is made here, is more expensive than what we are used to paying. What about coffee? We all drink it. Are we only buying from Hawaii now?

Here is proof things are going up.

A growing number of Americans are using buy now, pay later loans to buy groceries, and more people are paying those bills late, according to new Lending Tree data released Friday.

The figures are the latest indicator that some consumers are cracking under the pressure of an uncertain economy and are having trouble affording essentials such as groceries as they contend with persistent inflation, high interest rates and concerns around tariffs.

In a survey conducted April 2-3 of 2,000 U.S. consumers ages 18 to 79, around half reported having used buy now, pay later services. Of those consumers, 25% of respondents said they were using BNPL loans to buy groceries, up from 14% in 2024 and 21% in 2023, the firm said.

Let me repeat. UP 10% from last year. So much for Trump lowering GROCERY prices on day one. Now you're telling us day 700?
