At some point over the last forty years chidden ceased to be the responsibility of their parents and became property of the state.

Abortion has been reduced to property rights as well. If the unborn dies due to a criminal act such as beating up and robbing the mother it most states it can be charged as a homicide but not if the woman consents to having her unborn child killed. Other than property rights what's the issue here?
