These are the people you folks want to kick out.

You know what? It wasn't a war we failed to win. It was a war we failed to want to win. If we had wanted to win that war, we would have. We had the power, the technology, we just refused to use it. One nuclear bomb and it would have been over.

No, it realy was that the war was unwinnable.

We wanted to establish a government the people there wanted no part of. the Communists were led by a national hero. We were backing people who had collaborated with the hated French.

No, the war was winnable but under ROI, our troops were rendered helpless. When Nixon started bombing Cambodia and Laos he should of kept his foot on the gas. He went without congress approval as well

Your bizarre interpretation of Cambodian History would be laughable.

Sihanouk was hardly considered a "God".

He was however, highly respected by the Cambodian people.

Our invasions and bombings of Cambodia were a violation of international law. They were also piss stupid ignorant, but everything we did over there falls into that category.

I'm here at the breakfast table with my wife and I showed her your post ,she laughed so hard , she started choking and spit her corn flakes all over the kitchen table - you gotta be more careful where you shoot that Bull Shit Joe - it's Dangerous.

Although widely revered in Cambodia as a god-king, Sihanouk was well known for his human shortcomings. He was so erratic and temperamental that the adjective “mercurial” became a staple of news stories about him.

He could also be vain, egotistical, self-indulgent, divisive, hypersensitive to perceived slights and given to bouts of gloom and self-pity.

Sihanouk was not a God to many Khmer people - he was GOD incarnate . Joe - I rarely engage in topics I have no knowledge of - it seems that's something you do as a matter of route - I'm not saying you don't have a clue - you know a little - but what you know all comes from your socialist indoctrination and half baked leftist blogs . Basically if all you can do is twist and distort the truth to suit your narrow World View - why bother ? -Just STFU pal

I had some cousins fought there - one of them tells a story of how they were sent to march thorugh some south vietnamese villages as a show of force to the Viet Cong. Only problem is they were sent with empty guns - if attacked they had to run - it never happenned in his case - but I'm sure there were other incidents.

That takes the cake.

Three million Vietnamese died because American soldiers had unloaded weapons.

If America had killed every single Vietnamese and annexed the country?

Yeah..then it was "winnable".

Otherwise? Not so much.

Add in Ho Chi Minh and the Viet Cong helped America during world war 2 and were promised independence.

In 1941, Ho returned to Vietnam to lead the Viet Minh independence movement. The "men in black" were a 10,000 member guerrilla force that operated with the Viet Minh.[24] He oversaw many successful military actions against the Vichy French and Japanese occupation of Vietnam during World War II, supported closely but clandestinely by the United States Office of Strategic Services, and later against the French bid to reoccupy the country (1946–54). He was jailed in China by Chiang Kai-shek's local authorities before being rescued by Chinese Communists.[25] Following his release in 1943, he returned to Vietnam.

In April 1945 Ho met with the OSS agent Archimedes Patti and offered to provide intelligence to the allies provided that he could have "a line of communication with the allies."[26] The OSS agreed to this and later sent a military team of OSS members to train Ho's men and Ho himself was treated for malaria and dysentery by an OSS doctor.[27]

Atlantic Charter

The Atlantic Charter was a pivotal policy statement issued in August 14, 1941 that, early in World War II, defined the Allied goals for the post-war world. It was drafted by the leaders of Britain and the United States, and later agreed to by all the Allies. The Charter stated the ideal goals of the war: no territorial aggrandizement; no territorial changes made against the wishes of the people; restoration of self-government to those deprived of it; reduction of trade restrictions; global cooperation to secure better economic and social conditions for all; freedom from fear and want; freedom of the seas; and abandonment of the use of force, as well as disarmament of aggressor nations. In the "Declaration by United Nations" of 1 January 1942, the Allies of World War II pledged adherence to this charter's principles.

Well if you spent any time outside of the Brothels, you'd know that the people in the region view religion and "god" very differently then the west.

It's not really something they spend a lot of time with, except as an excuse to get together with relatives and friends.

Cambodians did not view their king as an all powerful being.

Quite the contrary.

Yup - and a lot more [South Vietnamese} stayed alive because they {American Soldiers} , at times, paraded around with empty guns , and it still happens in Afghanistan .....

Commanders have ordered a U.S. military unit in Afghanistan to patrol with unloaded weapons, according to a source in Afghanistan.

That's patently ridiculous.

America is responsible for those deaths.

The conduct of America during the Vietnam war was pretty shameful and disgusting.

My Lai Massacre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mỹ Lai Massacre (Vietnamese: thảm sát Mỹ Lai [tʰɐ̃ːm ʂɐ̌ːt mǐˀ lɐːj], [mǐˀlɐːj] ( listen); /ˌmiːˈlaɪ/, /ˌmiːˈleɪ/, or /ˌmaɪˈlaɪ/)[1] was the Vietnam War mass killing of between 347 and 504 unarmed civilians in South Vietnam on March 16, 1968. It was committed by U.S. Army soldiers from the Company C of the 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 11th Brigade of the 23rd (Americal) Infantry Division. Victims included men, women, children, and infants. Some of the women were gang-raped and their bodies mutilated.[2][3] Twenty-six soldiers were charged with criminal offenses, but only Lieutenant William Calley Jr., a platoon leader in C Company, was convicted. Found guilty of killing 22 villagers, he was originally given a life sentence, but served only three and a half years under house arrest.

The massacre, which was later called "the most shocking episode of the Vietnam War",[4] took place in two hamlets of Son My village in Quảng Ngãi Province.[5] These hamlets were marked on the U.S. Army topographic maps as My Lai and My Khe.[6] The U.S. military codeword for the alleged Viet Cong stronghold in that area was Pinkville,[7] and the carnage became known as the Pinkville Massacre first.[8][9] Next, when the U.S. Army started its investigation, the media changed it to the Massacre at Songmy.[10] Currently, the event is referred to as the My Lai Massacre in America and called the Son My Massacre in Vietnam

That wasn't something that was atypical, either.

It's just the most popular.

And?

How does that contrast what I posted?

The Romans and the Greeks weren't all that batshit crazy over religion either.

And if you read the Mythology it's more like soap operas.

They used it as an excuse to have celebrations and have big events.

In any case? It's Cambodia. It's not the US. And it's not part of US territory.

We had no business in that region after WWII.

None.

I guess if you ignore the history..it's bullshit.

But history doesn't back you at all.

You guys seem to think the movie "300" was some sort of historical document.

Newsflash: It wasn't.

Maria, a 17-year-old, paid a coyote to bring her into the United States after her brother was killed by a gang and she was threatened with death if she did not join it. Fighting tears, she described to Díaz-Balart the process of crossing the border as “horrible” and explained that she decided to enter the country “just to save my own life so that I could live my dreams, so I could help my family.” Deportation “would be a tragedy, it would be a certain death for me,” she added. “Everything that’s happened to me in my life, I would just know that that would be the last day.” Watch it:
It's fucking incredible that people want to turn their backs on these kids.

Even moreso since it was this country that created the hellholes they live in.

Anyone can make up a sad story and sell it to a gullible public. Here in America, for every "sad" immigrant story there are 1000 sad American problems. Let's fix our problems first then worry about the rest of the globe.

On the contrary shallow - I know the History - I've posted and documented it - you know nothing outside what your simple minded and shallow parrotted socialist world view will permit you to know . You have failed to refute a single point I brought forth , not a single link or citation simply parrotted left wing tripe and revisionist History.
