Saw this today.
It's hard to watch.
I feel nothing but empathy for this poor kid.
She watched her brother get shot and was told she was about to become property..or die.
Cable News Finally Asks A Real Migrant Teenager About The Immigration Crisis | ThinkProgress
Maria, a 17-year-old, paid a coyote to bring her into the United States after her brother was killed by a gang and she was threatened with death if she did not join it. Fighting tears, she described to DÃaz-Balart the process of crossing the border as “horrible” and explained that she decided to enter the country “just to save my own life so that I could live my dreams, so I could help my family.” Deportation “would be a tragedy, it would be a certain death for me,” she added. “Everything thatÂ’s happened to me in my life, I would just know that that would be the last day.” Watch it:
It's ******* incredible that people want to turn their backs on these kids.
Even moreso since it was this country that created the hellholes they live in.
I realize some people have trouble understanding complicated issues, such as wanting secure borders and a clear process for people entering the country to go through.
There is a world of difference between immigrants, illegal immigrants and those seeking refuge. There is a process in place for legal immigration and those seeking asylum.
Right now, people wanting refuge (and some are quite legitimate) are coming through Mexico and entering illegally. There is a plan in place for people to enter Mexico and obtain a pass that is good for 72 hours, long enough to enter the U.S.
This isn't the typical process for those seeking refuge and, sadly, a lot of very undesirable people are using the same route to get here.
Obama has effectively lumped the refugees together with the illegal aliens and is completely ignoring our immigration laws. Many of the people coming in have cheat sheets to enable them to give the correct answers to questions that will allow them to stay here.
By lumping all the people into one group, the Obama administration pretends that those against criminals, terrorists and drug dealers are also against the innocent ones in the group. It's the same method they use to pass bills containing a lot of garbage. If they call it an education bill, they claim you are against education even though the bill has nothing to do with education and everything to do with the pork spending contained in it.
Now they claim that people are heartless against children. Well, except for Beck, who was bashed for feeling sympathy and wanting to do something for them.
It's not a matter of not wanting to help those who truly deserve it. After all, the bad people these refugees are fleeing from can easily follow them here and put us all at risk. The worst of the worst are coming and I am tired of the lies that we have no problem at the borders. I also question why other countries aren't accepting many of these people considering they are far closer than we are. You have to ask why people, at great expense, are being transported through Mexico and into the U.S.
More is going on here that meets the eye and it's reasonable to be suspicious. I think Obama has helped orchestrate this and that he plans to use the 'crisis' to use executive order to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens.
Not all are refugees. The illegal aliens, who have no intention of becoming citizens, are here to take advantage of us and we would be smart to remove all incentive for people to do that. If there was nothing to gain, people would not choose to come here unless they truly were in danger.
Some sheep are blindly taking the word of an administration that has lied repeatedly about a great many things. This is no different.
Our border guards are overwhelmed. They were before this latest surge and now they are too busy changing diapers to worry about the violent criminals coming in. We can help people who deserve it without taking so many risks. It makes no sense that Obama, Reid and the others keep insisting that the borders are secure. You have to be pretty stupid to believe that.
