Calling it a "Holiday Tree" effects you how? Why is it that trying to include others bad?

I have some friends who put up a Holiday Tree every year. They are Jewish, but don't want their children to miss out on the fun of the holiday season.

Oh, so it is strictly a celebration of the birth of Jesus? Even though it is celebrated at the wrong time of the year? Even though many of the parts of the "traditional" celebration are taken from pagan holidays?

For many, Xmas is a huge secular holiday. Far more people put up trees and decorations, give gifts, and celebrate the season than are actual Christians.

And why not let the children celebrate the secular side of the holiday? Its not like the Black Friday sales stampedes have anything to do with the birth of Jesus. Nor do the snowmen so often used in decorations.

Christmas can be a beautiful religious holiday. But it is also a commercialized, materialistic holiday for everyone.

The origin or the modern meaning? Originally is comes from "holy day". But the modern use is for days off to commemorate or celebrate. Even Merriam Webster says it is a day on which one is exempt from work.

It is funny that you bring up cultural appropriation. Most of the Xmas holiday was appropriated by early Christians from the pagans. The time of Christmas. The fact that they turned it from a celebration of the Sun God to a celebration of the Son of God. The decorated evergreen trees. Yule Logs and Yule tidings are directly stolen. Giving gifts to everyone, especially anonymous gifts. All of that is from pagan religions.

It is not just celebrated at the same time. It was wholesale appropriation. The census, which had Joseph and Mary traveling to Bethlehem, was held in September.

There are 12 religious holidays (Holy Days) in December. Why should only one be spoken of?

Ever hear of "To the victors go the spoils" That has been the story since time immemorial. Khan, Ottomans, Greeks, Romans, African tribes, American tribes (do you think the Navajo gave back Hopi, Zuni or any other conquered people), The Spaniards, Inca, Mayans, Aztec, Sioux? The US has made life better for EVERY group that they have ever conquered. Native Americans receive benefits to this day, black people (slave relations or not) have been the recipients of special favors for over 50 years. I know you're woke, so you'll be apologizing for something that you had no hand in until you're in your grave. Thanksgiving is a day set aside to offer thanks to whatever supreme being you choose for the wonderful life we lead, not a time to point fingers for injustices, real or imagined.
