Most remakes are poorly made regardless of the underlying "check off the boxes" intentions. What made a great movie a great movie to begin with was all of the variables that are impossible to recreate.

In general, I suspect that remakes are generally reserved for the most lazy, least creative person looking for a quick payday. It's just a business and nobody ever turned out poor by underestimating the intelligence of the public.

Deliverance is a tremendous documentary from back in the day about the Southern Gay Community that lives out there in the woods.

I recommended the film to my brother to give him the heads up, when he went out to buy rural land in the south for his retirement home.
