Let's start with the Kama Tank School. A joint German-Soviet tank and tank tactics facility set up in Kazan, Soviet Union and run from 1929-1933. And some of the soldiers who attended that school and were trained by the Soviet Army were Walter Model and Heinz Guderian. And there were almost no differences between the T-28 and the T-35 and the Panzer III and Tiger I.

Or how about the Lipetsk Fighter School in Liptsk, Soviet Union? Once again, a joint German-Soviet program to develop fighters and train pilots. There was actually very little difference between the Messerschmitt Bf 109 and the Polikarpov I-16.

And funny that you even try to talk about the Soviets not needing "advanced weapons" until they were forced to develop them when Germany invaded.

I think most tend to forget that at the start of the war, German equipment was really not all that good. And a hell of a lot of them were compromises. Sometimes that worked in their favor, sometimes it did not.

The "Pocket Battleship" was one of those "Lucky Accidents". Germany was prohibited from building Battleships by the Treaty of Versailles. However, they were allowed to possess three cruisers. So their solution was to essentially place battleship class guns onto their cruisers, and increase their armor.

Likewise, Germany was limited to almost no anti-tank guns, and only a very limited number of artillery pieces. Their solution was to create the 8.8cm Flak gun. A rather clever way around the treaty, as on paper it was an anti-aircraft gun. However, it was also highly effective against tanks and fortified positions.

Most of the equipment most associate with WWII Germany were actually developed during the war, they did not possess them at the start. The Fw 190, the He 177, Me 262, the Me 410. As well as the Panther and Tiger series, all introduced during the war.

More than anything, it was their doctrine that carried them through the opening stages. Primarily in recognizing that bogging down in "trench warfare" is essentially what lost them WWI, so refusing to engage in it whenever possible.

There was no "Invasion", that was part of the "Munich Agreement", and Poland had nothing to do with that agreement as they did not even have a representative at the conference. That was an agreement between Germany, the UK, France and Italy and intended to give them "peace".

The simple facts, Germany had already invaded Czechoslovakia, and that conference was thrown together to try and negotiate an end to the conflict. And although France did negotiate with Poland and they would be willing to join France if they invaded Germany over the Sudetenland, as France had no intention of invading Germany in response that became a non-issue.

The final resolution was that Czechoslovakia was cut apart and divided among Germany, Poland, and Hungary. With Poland by far gaining the smallest area, known as Trans-Olza and composing about a hundred square miles.

Poland did not invade, that was given to them in the Munich Agreement. In the map above, the territory they gained is listed as 2. All of the rest were annexed by Hungary and Germany.
