The real problem is that by supporting the trans movement and porn in middle school libraries (among many other absurd issues), the left lost all credibility.

How does this 9-year head start be of any importance? If it is unfair, it is unfair. Then again, Trump has been doing it for 9 years (not Kamala). There have been more excuses for Trump statements that any person ever in the history of the world.
And by the way, Trump has shown a lot of similarities to Hitler that are tangible that is it not unfair to be compared to Hitler. He certainly cannot be compared to any of our great presidents. In fact, historians have rated Trump the worst U.S. president ever.
Yes, he is being applauded or at least allowed to do it without being criticized.

The problem with your kind of thinking (the same as Trump) is that we are supposed to be a Democracy (meaning things get resolved or done based on majority votes) and not an Autocracy (where you or Trump decide what is right and wrong).
We live and let live and not act like Hitler (deciding that the Jews should be killed), like Putin (that has his opponents killed), like China (where Xi decides what is to be done) or like any of the Autocratic leaders get to decide what is right.
How would you like it if Trump was gay and forced people to be gay or die. Would you vote for such a person? We know Trump is not gay as he has sexually abused women but he has clearly stated that he is totally against Democrats and that he is going to get the military to go against the Democratic leaders (like Schumer and Pelosi). You agree to such action?

They followed the laws. They did nothing illegal. Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts as he DID break the law.

They saw how that affected the attitude of the nation toward elections.
The legitimacy of a government in a republic/democracy depends on the trust of the people in the system. If that goes? The government has no legitimacy.
