Fake polls follow fake news as a damage-assessment. It's not real, they never called anybody I know, and it's based on the bandwagon theory of human behavior ie "everybody else thinks this so I should too". Any questions?

The thing about polls is that they heavily depend on being able to take a random sample. The population of the united states is far from homogeneous. Also, lots of people simply don't answer their phones to strange numbers or answer pollster's questions. If the rates at which different demographics of the population are willing to answer the poll questions are different, this will also screw with the poll results.

I WAS called one time for a political poll about a year and half, two years ago. The person who did the poll didn't seem too happy when I told her, "Of COURSE, I'm a smart conservative!" She DID do the whole set of questions with me, but hung up without saying, "Thank you". One has to believe she was MOST LIKELY a Dim Dem.

Polls are manipulated by both sides. Often how the questions are written and the order they are put together will have a big effect on how people answer.
