The federal government racked up a $76.9 billion deficit in July, with increased government spending and tax cuts keeping the country on track to record its biggest annual deficit in six years.

The Treasury Department reported Friday that in the first 10 months of this budget year:

• The deficit totaled $684 billion, up 20.8 percent from the same period last year.
  
• Revenues are up only 1 percent this year, the increase held back by a big drop in corporate tax payments.
  
• Spending is up 4.4 percent, reflecting a big boost Congress approved earlier this year for domestic and military programs and the rising costs of financing the debt.

The Trump administration last month sharply revised upward its deficit estimates, projecting annual deficits will once again top $1 trillion in the 2019 budget year, climbing to $1.1 trillion, and remaining above $1 trillion for three years.

For the current budget year, which ends Sept. 30, the administration is now projecting a deficit of $890 billion. That would be up 33.7 percent from last year's deficit of $665.8 billion

1. The economy. We are close to some major wage advancements and nearing full employment. Do not slow progress with Democrats in Congress.

2. Don't reward ends justify means politics. The lies, breaking confidential bonds, deceit and out right illegal actions are common place with Democrats.

3. Midterms losses by the Democrats will force them to the center. That is where the bulk of Democrats live and they deserve to regain their party.

4. A stronger Republican Congress can take on Trump. That's right, with clearer majorities they will curb the more radical policies of Trump. With losses, they will have to follow a long.

1. The economy is far more dynamic than you think it is. It grew under Obama and is growing under Trump. Businesses are making huge amounts of money with lower tax rates yet the benefits are going mostly to the rich who get special tax breaks under the Republican tax bill.

2. Republicans have proven that they are liars and deceitful and have come under fire for shady business dealings. There is no proof of any illegal actions by Democrats.

3. There is a old saying and that is "fool me once and shame on you. Fool me twice and shame on me." Moderate Republicans had a chance to bring the party to the center but they did not. They need to be defeated by the center-left Democrats and see who will move. Far-right Republicans or far-left democrats.
